I log each day and in the remarks write the city pairs if more than one leg. Been doing it that way for 14 years. Never been a problem.

About to start my regional career, whats the best way to log electronically that is most convenient?

Before I left the house, I would import my line for that week into LogTenPro (Mac). It would sync to my phone. At the end of each leg, I would put in the OOOI, tail number, etc from ACARS. I haven't kept a paper logbook since getting my MEI.

I use mccPilotLog and enter OOOI but if you log decimals, the numbers won’t match well in the print out.

I use RosterBuster and SafeLog, almost everything is automated. End of each work day I export from RosterBuster to Safelog, tweak a couple of things (IMC time, approaches, etc.), and I'm done.

Don't know if it's the "right" way to do it, but I use one line per day in an Excel spreadsheet. Departure, destination, and then stops in between. Tail number, captain's name, any notes. Plus all the times.

Do you guys/gals log actual instrument at all? I’ve been logging 1/10th of every leg I’m PF as actual instrument time, wondering if that’s acceptable to potential interviewers.

I do it just because. You know there is “that guy” at DL that will ask why you haven’t ever flown any instrument time at the airlines.Truthfully I don’t think it matters at this point.

Don’t overthink logging time though. Most places really don’t care. I’ve reviewed logbooks many times as an ex-recruiter. Some are better than others but the only thing we care about is that it’s legible and that everything adds up. I don’t care what the tail number was or who your CA or FO was. If something major happened, feel free to put in in the remarks sections. We will most likely ask about it at an interview. If it’s a story you’d rather not tell, don’t put it there. Just my words of advice.

I use logten pro and I love it. I log every single flight, BUT, I log it immediately getting to the gate. It only takes 10 extra seconds and my time is more accurate than ever. I log block out, t/o time, landing time and block in. Tail number, city pair, Sign it, then I’m done.

Like I said easy peasy. I also have had a few pilots I run into with the logten pro printed from kinkos or staples etc. it so much more inviting to look at and you can easily find anything you need to find within seconds.

The big draw back, it’s pricey. But I think of it as an investment in my career.
