I actually have a question about this too. How many credits would be realistic to take a semester while in the regionals? I’m a CFI right now and about 10 months away from the regionals, and I’m only taking 7 credits this semester and it feels like a lot at the moment. I have 32 credits right now (not including whatever I can get from my pilot credentials), so I figure it’ll still take me a few years at this slow pace.

You will have a crapload more amount of free time as a regional pilot then a CFI. You just need the discipline to use that free time effectively, especially on the road.

I’m at a regional and doing 9 credits (3 classes) and it’s a lot. 2 classes would be manageable, 3 is heavy.

Hey guys,
Looking at quickest options to get my degree. I have basically no college under my belt, I do have my flight instructor ratings and ATP. I don’t really care what the degree field is in, But just want to know what people have been through and also timelines for getting a bachelors degree and who gives the most credits for pilot certs. I’ve looked into liberty, ERAU WW, Utah valley. But was wondering if there were any others people knew about/used.

Thanks!

I'm very happy with Liberty. Started in fall 2018, depending on how ambitious I am with my course load I could be done this coming year. Gave me a lot of credits for my certificates and ratings. Transferred a lot of my credits from previous colleges as well. Not the cheapest option for sure but the coursework and instructors have been great. All online works with a busy schedule as well.

Currently a regional FO, taking 6 classes this semester at Utah Valley. Came in with 60 community college credits, got credit for my certs and additional experience. Some of my credits didn’t transfer so back peddled a bit. But no worries, as I’m bidding some rsv to give me more time at home to do my classes. UVU is great so far

Can you confirm that if you aren’t a resident of Utah, you’ll be paying 3 X the listed tuition except during summer? I was surprised to hear something of this sort during the end of my registration process.

Makes me think I may be going to Liberty after all...

You know that if you fly for an ALPA airline that you get a discount with TESU right?

Texas A&M University-Central Texas has a great online aviation science program. It's also one of the cheapest and you an apply any pilot cert. from any school for those credits.
