No PIC turbine
Would you go to a major without any turbine PIC?
Normally I would say HE!! NO but it probably depends. Are you close to upgrade or 7 years away?
Guys are getting hired at CAL with no TPIC when I couldn't get an interview(with 4 recs). That's all good and well, but if you get furloughed without at least 1000TPIC you could be up sh!ts creek. It's happened to many a good FO over the last decade. If you're under 40, do you trust your new co. to keep you employed for the next 20-30 years? That's a ballsy bet these days.

Everyone i know that has gone into the major had prior Turbine PIC time, except for one person that had 1 Turbine PIC.

not just yes, but he!! yes. ill roll the dice on it but like someone posted, people getting hired without the pic is a rare rare thing and you have to be hooked up like a mother |
The reason you get PIC turbine is to go to a major.. If you can do it without.. why would you even ask ?
people do it i know a guy who went to CAL w/ no pic turbine and I know another who only had 300 who also went to CAL its all bout who you know
delta has no pic requirement and when united starts hiring again, they dont have a pic requirement either. competitive is a different story, but still worth the gamble to go for it
not to mention that 01 hires are upgrading at CAL, so the guys that have been hired in the last few years will upgrade soon enough.................man im jealous. 73 or 75/6 out of EWR I envy you bastards

Thanks for the post, about 8 or so months out from upgrade. Could have an interview with Delta if I wanted, just not sure if its safe to go. I have about 2800tt and 2 grand of it is SIC turbine.
thanks, LOW FUEL |

thanks, LOW FUEL In the long run you'd be better off going to DAL now, getting furloughed at some point for a few years, and just getting a non-flying job if needed to tide you over. The only real risk is that DAL would go into a permanent death spiral (ala USAir pre-merger) with no hope of recall. |

cant believe you didnt take the interview. you would have been at the front end of delta's hiring. but then again if delta and nwa merge hypothetically speaking, youll be right back on the street.

Family, I haven’t handed over my resume yet. Just as the post say above I’m scared of getting furloughed in a couple of years. What good am I with 4-5,000 hrs of SIC turbine? Also don’t want to be furloughed in-defiantly like some of the TWA guys. :(
Do It!!!! Do It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know someone that went from ERJ FO to CAL 767 FO, no TPIC. I'm starting to see a pattern here...

For what its worth, if it was delta, I would take it, if it was spirit, I wouldnt
Word from my buds at Delta is that upgrade for a new hire could be 10 years or more. When they shrank, a lot of guys took the early out, leaving a bunch of early 50's/40's captains. It's a risk, but well, what isn't really.
Well thanks for the input. I'll let you all know how it went if I go down that road.
