Flight Benefits for guardian child

Does anyone know if children you have legal guardianship of qualify for non rev benefits? All the rules I see say dependent children. When it comes to taxes they are considered dependents.

As far as I know as long as you can provide the legal paperwork for the guardianship the child should be covered

I think it's up to the airlines. I know of one case for sure where a friend was able to get his guardian child on DL/UA bennies via his regional.

A staffer at the regional made the call to include the kid, once he was in the regionals system the partner airline systems accepted him.
