If you just have one bust, you'll probably be able to get a job at another regional quickly. If you can hired onto the same type, do that. Unless you have fundamental aptitude issues (those usually don't make it to the checkride) you'll almost certainly pass based on having just completed the full training program on the same jet.
I wouldn't cool your heels waiting for six months, but if you still don't have an airline job, do apply to the original regional again. Unless you really struggled or had attitude issues, they'll probably take you back since they know where you stand (they also know you'll almost certainly pass the second time around).

If your friend didn’t offer anything specific then don’t rule it out. XJT has one of the best training environments in the regional industry. From a risk/reward perspective you should strongly consider it. You could be one more training failure away from finding a new career.

There's always a few gloom-mongers, you juts have to tune them out. But there's also usually a grain of truth, and you need to try to tease that out as well.

Yea that’s kinda what I was thinking of doing. I still have my materials from previous place and plan to keep up with system knowledge. I don’t think attitude was the issue, like I said, my failure was on me and Instructors were great and helped when I asked. I just put a lot of pressure on myself and that pressure led to a bad day in the sim when it counted most. They invited me to reapply in a few months, whether genuine or not, not sure, but I’d like to return there if possible but I would rather get back to it sooner than later. Appreciate advice.

I’m surprised they would turn you loose after one bust. At my regional one guy I’m close with busted his checkride (non AQP) and the other failed his oral. Both were simply retrained, and went back a week or two later and passed without incident.
So I don’t understand (unless there were other issues) why they would can you after a single failure?

Your guess is as good as mine. I actually made friends with two of the instructors and we still communicate on a weekly basis. I did have one repeat, I owned my failure because it was my fault and no one else’s and never pointed fingers. I assumed I would get some retraining, never announced it and kept that thought to myself, so it was very frustrating when I was called in and given the option to turn in my resignation but they also said reapply in 6months and come back.
That’s not how it would have gone down at XJT. From what you described you would still be employed.

Things happened the way they did, dwelling on it does nothing. All I can do is move on, do more research than I did the last time before making a decision. TBH I wish I had joined this place before, a lot of negativity here but informative to a point.
