Alright just signed up for this place because I avoided it before heading to my first 121 wanted to avoid all the doom and gloom. So here goes...went to a place I knew had a harder training reputation from word of mouth that was non AQP, I’ll fess up, and didn’t pass my check ride. I take responsibility, my nerves got me and I messed up. I just had a bad day in the sim, stinks but that’s the way it went. Instructors were good and did their best to help when I asked. I don’t have any previous failures and only had to repeat one sim, also invited me back after 6months whether genuine or not, not sure. Briefly skimming this place to find answers figured I’d just start this thread and I expect some wise guy remarks, ha-ha all good, but wondering my chances of getting hired on anywhere else after this?

Constructive criticism and advice welcomed, thanks.

It was not. But I have talked with several Mesa Pilots and they all seem happy. Several folks have mentioned Mesa, XJT and TSA. Know several folks at XJT who have warned me to stay away. With them needing 820 Pilots, would make it seem they’re desperate for anyone so I guess a beggar can’t be a chooser at this point. TSA I now understand has ceased hiring at this time.

I worked for XJT. Lots of great people there. You’ll always find miserable people anywhere though.

You will absolutely get hired by another regional. I wouldn't worry too much about this failure, unless it happens again.

I just sent you a PM

I’m not anti XJT, heard they have great people and great training. However, when I start up conversations with Pilots at a place and all they do is complain, makes you wonder is all I’m saying. Especially when one guy was 8 months in out of training, so with the company just over a year, and told me it was so bad he’d turned in his resignation. That raised a red flag. You are absolutely right though, miserable people are everywhere and I shouldn’t write the place off, especially in my circumstance.

He honestly babbled to the point where I began to tune out.

It’s not worse than Mesa. It’s worse than the XJT of 5 years ago. Most of the senior folks hate the place because they have watched QOL go south over time. The new guys sit there and listen to it from the guy in the left seat until they start to believe it. There are also a lot of people who have some really strange expectations of what the 121 world is going to be like. If your friend didn’t offer anything specific then don’t rule it out. XJT has one of the best training environments in the regional industry. From a risk/reward perspective you should strongly consider it. You could be one more training failure away from finding a new career.
