Default I can move to any base for a regional

As the title says, I should hit ATP mins in less than a year and I am able to move anywhere for the best opportunity at the regional level.

My priorities are:
1) Live in base
2) 121 TPIC asap/minimal reserve time as FO
3) Pay
Mid 20s, 4 year degree, no training failures, clean driving/legal record. Goal for the time being is to get competitive for the legacies asap.

I have a few front runners (SKYW ORD, RPA BOS, etc) but wanted to get some feedback from the masses as well.

Sounds like you have a plan. Which legacy do you want to work for and do you have any desire to live someplace down the road? Also, racing to get competitive for the legacies is great, just know there are thousands ahead of you that have been doing the same thing. It probably won't be 1000TPIC and gone, although who knows, the next few years are going to be interesting.

With that, DFW seems to be a good place to live long term so any of the AA carriers that have bases there, namely Envoy and Skywest. Granted it can be middle of the pack seniority wise so know you will have some time on reserve there. New York is always going to have bases and will usually be junior, however its that way for a reason. Most people dont won't to live there very long. If you want to live on the west coast, Skywest is your best bet as they have bases scattered all over the place.

“ATP mins in 1 year”. 1 year is a lifetime cycle in the regionals.. i would keep you eye on the game.. and see what it looks like in 9 months.. Go to a airline that is “growing”.. more movement on both sides.. In “my opinion” avoid airlines that down own there aircraft, or that only fly 50 seaters... (CRJ200’s/EMB145’s)

Also look at regionals with variety of trip mix. If they only fly 3 and 4 day trips. It will be hard picking up stuff on days off to get out asap.. If your fly 1-4 day trips. You will be able to maximize your sked...

You sure you don't want to live in ATL?

I don't think ATL at OO or 9E would fit the bill for what he's asking for.

Trying to avoid NYC if I can, looks like there are options out there that offer similar opportunities without having to deal with NYC living on a regional salary.

Another consideration is DEN with skywest as I could bid COS for quicker upgrade if needed. I do realize all this can change in the regional world pretty quickly.

So you are changing the parameters now. Your post said nothing about trying to avoid certain places. Anything else that would be pertinent to this discussion?

Life is a journey, not a destination. You'll find a lot of people on APC that will tell you that life at a regional is the absolute worst thing anyone has ever had to do. Your only goal should be to get your 1000 hours and get out ASAP yadda yadda. I haven't found that to be the case at all. At the starting pay 3-4 years ago with a wife and new baby stuck living with the in-laws and commuting to reserve...yeah, I'm sure that was pretty bad. Your situation isn't the same. If you're single and free to move wherever you want, you should be focusing on enjoying the next 2+ years it'll take you to get 2000 hours in 121 (1000 to upgrade + 1000 TPIC).

SkyWest has DTW, ORD, COS, DEN and ATL that are all decent options to upgrade pretty quickly. Republic and Endeavor are both good companies that pay pretty well. And if you want to live on the East Coast, the American wholly owneds should probably be on your radar as well. The poster above was right though, a year out is probably too early to make a decision. You can take a look at where things are now, but take another look and reevaluate a few months before you'll meet the minimum qualifications.
