Regional for the most direct path to United?
United is planning to hire 10,000 pilots over the next decade. They even bought a flight school, apparently, because there's a huge pilot shortage in the U.S. Which regional carrier would help me achieve the goal of working for United? I just heard about the Aviate program and it seems almost too good to be true. Any thoughts?
According to the United Aviate website, "Aviate is your way in. Wherever you are on your journey, the Aviate program provides the most direct route to a job offer with United" "We aim to hire more than 10,000 pilots in the next decade. With the largest fleet of wide-body aircraft in North America, we’re looking for the best and brightest to fly us forward." Thanks in advance! |
You’re not funny.

Best path to United is to hang around a UA CAs daughter. Or son...

Yes join the regional. Pick mitsubishi regional jet for your first regional. A couple airlines have them on order, its the jet of the future hence also called "space jet". Make sure to wear the major airline's lanyard and walk around the airport with sunnies on. Looking sharp always helps. Don't forget to look down on other regionals.

Pick a large, well-funded independent regional... they might buy UAL at a BK fire sale and staple their pilots.
That's as a good a prediction as any. |

According to the United Aviate website, Is there a particular regional jet I should try to get typed on that will set me apart as the best and brightest, maybe even better prepare me to fly widebody aircraft? Thanks in advance! |

United will hire you into left seat if you have a McDonnell Douglas BRJ 390 SIC type rating

Pretty greAAt, I’m more or less already an American pilot. My recruiter said I should flow in about 5.5 years, so I should be flowing this June. Hopefully I’ll be on the 787 in another 6 years, but I noticed a bunch parked lately ... not sure if Sparky is having more maintenance problems.

still a good ole boys club huh?
But after C.V. left as head of pilot selection and B.K. took over, that morphed somewhat into a different direction. And that was years ago. |
