ATP question

When going for the full ATP can they restrict our for example cross country time if you don’t meet the full 500?

Read all of 61.160. It has the answers you are looking for.

Your question is confusing. When you say full ATP that implies you do not mean the restricted ATP which is the typical path these days for pilots with less than 500 hours of cross country time.

Are you referring to the "Holder does not meet the pilot in commandaeronautical experience requirements of ICAO" limitation? You could get a 'full' ATP with less than 500 hours XC with that limitation if you have flight engineer time which is pretty rare these days or 135 SIC time in a single pilot aircraft under a professional development program. Do either of those situations apply?

We can try to help if you give us more information but as mentioned it is true that 61.159 and 61.160 contain the answers you seek.

Bold method put out a piece that breaks it down Barney style, and saves the lawyer speak.

Anybody think it would be worth to get the ATP-CTP and written done on your own?

Most regionals require the full ATP at this point.

For the foreseeable future you’ll be competing with people who already have an ATP, type rating, and 121 time. Lots of very qualified pilots on the street right now (and more in Oct)

This.

Unless you’re made of money, I’d wait and see how the chips fall in the coming years.

Get everything done on your own if you want to be more competitive. That includes the actual certificate, not just the written.
