Now this is what I’m talking about. Descending like a gentleman is for the birds.

Too much math. Im a 145 driver and I just set field elevation and when the VNAV page says -2000 fpm required I go down. Don't bust the 250knots rule and you're good.

I know “mainline” typically does that.. on the CRJ, that’s *GUARANTEED* to get you “OB SPOILERONS” caution.. which QRH directs you to stow the boards....
I try to avoid spoilers as much as possible, because when you truly need them (going into SBA or anywhere in Mexico) you won’t have them.....

Say huh? 2,500 hrs on the Can't Really Jet and I've never seen that happen just due to the boards being out in an idle descent...

On the CRJ i usually like to either add the RWY elevation + TCH for straight-ish in approaches or Field elevation + 1500ft for downwind traffic pattern. Add that number to the last item on the list (KXXX) and i'll usually add the degrees shown on the selected approach chart (def. 3.00) and then i could fly the snowflake all the way to the threshold.

Completely false. Just dont pull them out so fast and you will never get this. One notch at a time. "GUARANTEED"? No.

yes, I preach the “one notch at a time” method.. which helps. But it can and does still happen.
