Cape Air Flying

Anyone fly with Cape? Questions about pay and QOL? I live in Mass right near all the bases and was wondering how life is?

Hey Alex, Cape air is fun and all but I do know the pay is not very good. My sister's fiance flew for them for 3 years and said it was fun but wish he had gone to a regional that would have helped him build turbine pic time. If you live in Mass. as well as I then maybe Colgan, American Eagle or Big Sky would be good for you. All upgrade to turbine pic time. They are just suggestions.

I am actually with Colgan now and love it! I just miss not bing home, I have baby girl at home and want to see her grow up... Hmmm pay cut or money for college? I dont know, I would want to go to Cape as a Capt, and after a year with Colgan I would meet their mins. Know any thing else?

Have you tried bidding for PVD, or MHT? Wouldnt that get you home every night or most nights? I too have a bay girl and I hear ya. I am considering Colgan because of the location of PVD to my home. Think the QOL would be good. Cape Air is a fun place to work from what I hear, just dont plan on making much money. Although, I don't work there so I cant say much about them.

I have been bidding PVD, however it is a senior base and is quite tough to get. I am in PQI right now which is great, long lines, nice people and quite quiet. The pay is not the best and being away is tough on the fam but, if I do get PVD this could all be better although, when you upgrade to capt, that will all go away again. Cape is good because no matter what you are home every night. I know that it is every pilot's dream to get into that heavy however, being away is inevitable. Tough decisions...

Alex, I used to bid for ABE and I never got it until I called Mikey himself, I called him and left a message, he called me back 5 mins later and gave me ABE (yes yes it was a very nice thing for him to do) Unless you call them they may not honor it. A lot of people used to bid bases and the only way they got them was if they called Mikey directly, give it a shot............

PS being able to drive 30 mins to work is priceless, I have been on both ends and I wouldn't trade it for the world, home is home ;)

You can upgrade to turbine with Cape Air...they fly ATR-42's at there Guam base. Theres the catch...you would have to move to Guam, which for most, is in the middle of no where in the middle of the pacific ocean:D
