SeaTac Commuter Parking

Where is the best place to park as a commuter on a regional salary?

You can park for free at the light rail parking at angle lake and take the rail to the airport

Just a heads up they may tow your car. There was no overnight parking allowed when I've used that place. Also, idk when the last train is for the night so plan accordingly.

Anyone got any other ideas? Parking is ridiculous at SEATAC now.

The last train is pretty late, I think timed for inbound pax on the late flights but if you're running late you can miss it. BTDT.

Also watch out for wokesters on the train, they've been known to beat up pilots (mistaken for transit po-po?).

What's wrong with the employee lot?

SeaTac no longer allows commuters into the employee lot, since March 2020.

Well that's lame. Sorry.

pilotwithnoname 05-29-2021 08:53 AM

Yeah, totally. Still looking for alternatives if anyone has any ideas..

How about you provide some proof of your claim. The truth matters. Share with us all the many wokester attacks on pilots that should have us afraid to ride Seattle light rail.

Sorry to stop you...but who cares? We can't park overnight at the station because they tow your car. Also, there are signs everywhere saying we can't. It's not an option for commuters. Why the fu*k are we still talking about that here?

Move this little tiff over to general if you care to argue the merits and character of metro riders at night.

Some of us need a parking pass somewhere near SeaTac...

It's not a claim it's fact. It was a company memo which I really can't post here. Any SEA based pilot must have heard about it though, ask around.

Meekrob 05-30-2021 04:26 PM

Yeah I remember that. Pilot was just sitting there in uniform and got sucker punched.

Won't give you proof, as it has identifying information, but it was a guy I know well and worked with before 121. He is one of the nicest guys you can meet, and I guarantee he would have de-escalated or left had that been an option. Not saying everyone should be expecting random attacks on the light rail, but it did indeed happen.

Yes I’lm familiar with that lone attack. So one episode warrants a broad warning and stereotyping of an entire group of people?

BillAndTed 05-31-2021 03:07 PM

When I wrote that the truth matters it was a rebuttal to the false assertion that one is in danger wearing a pilot’s uniform while commuting on the light rail. That’s simply not true.

Why did you try to pretend it didn't happen if you're aware of it?

I think it is. I know people who won't wear their uniform on the ride to work now.

I didn't. You implied it was unsafe to ride the metro due to hostile "wokesters." And that's not true.

I was mostly joking, leveraging an actual event. I'm not very good at navigating the "triggered" minefield.

Reminds me of the MEME of Jackie Gleason.

”Good morning, America. What are we going to be offended about today?”

I’m not triggered. These forums leave a lot left “unsaid” with respect to communication.

On topic I’m a Seattle commuter and they pulled non-domiciled parking passes last spring. I’m fortunate to have a share ride van I can get on. Sometimes I use Park and Jet Lot 2 as well. Convenient and not too expensive. I’d love to learn about a hotel that offers reasonable employee parking on a monthly basis. Now that covid rates are rising at the parking lots I may start cold calling hotels and learning what’s on offer. I’ll pass along any gouge I might discover.

this isn’t true anymore. Source: me. I’m a commuter that started parking in the lot as of late 2020. OP, check with the POS employee parking site.

OP, take this for what it's worth. I lost my benefit last spring. On my last trip home just a week ago I walked over to the hard to find employee parking center and asked about parking for commuters and whether or not anything changed. They told me to apply again and didn't give me any indication of whether or not they were letting non-domiciled commuting pilots use the employee lot. I was optimistic as they requested I apply again. I received the sorry no non-domiciled allowed email two days later. Good luck if you apply. Let us know how it turns out if you do.

I'd love to know how you're getting parking when not domiciled there.

Here's a link to the Port of Seattle parking policies. I unfortunately let my parking lapse as I opted for time off and didn't need to pay the monthly fee. Had I continued to do so I'd be grand fathered in. Would have been nice to know that losing the parking came with saving money for several months. Anyway this link to their policies spells out clearly why they have decided to limit it to just domiciled employees.

I did some research and found the above link, DirectToEntent. So now I know how you're getting parking. Don't miss a payment would be my advice if paying month to month.

well that is certainly interesting. Thank you for the heads up. The information given to me must have changed. I apologize for my original post that was not totally accurate.

There's no need to apologize. This site should be all about the friendly exchange of information. Have. a good one.

it was a company memo. Not all pilot uniforms are all black some are more bases which someone could mistake for a police officer if the pilot has no tie or dork bars on

hydrostream 06-02-2021 12:00 PM

Whatever. Flight attendants are getting punched onboard the airplanes themselves by “anti-wokesters,” drunk and aggressive drivers are common on I5, hotel vans roll over on International Blvd, and there are bums on the sidewalks, so no method of transportation is safe. Just be smart, put your headphones away and pay attention to your surroundings.
