Hey does anyone know the mins for Skyway? I was scrolling thru regionals and they are listed as hiring but no mins. When I go to the midwest connect carrers page, no jobs listed at all. If I go to the Midwest jobs page its for mainline stuff. Ideas?

I think there mins are still 750/50. As far as info on their website, I can't help you out there.

I'm pretty sure SYX minimums have always been 700/50.

So I called SYX, and the lady who was filling in for the receptionist didn't know much. Should I try to get in touch with the CP's office instead of HR?

What's the deal with this airline? Any good? QOL? You know the basics.

Lots of uncertainty, which has had its positives and negatives. Ever since Midex shipped out the 50 seat flying to Skywest, a lot of the senior captains (mostly from the DOJET) have made a bee line for other carriers (JetBlue, Air Tran, SWA, Evergreen, USA 3000). Upgrade times have dropped to around 7 months for the 1900 and 2 years on the 328. Schedules right now are absolutely awful for 328 captains and mediocre for 328 FOs. Not as sure with the 1900 side, but they seem to stay adequately staffed. The pilot group is great, with only about 200 it makes for a friendly and close-knit group. QOL I suppose depends on what your plan is. MKE is livable on first year pay and there is a decent supply of crashpads around the area. The 1900s are going to be retired, but the timeframe keeps getting longer and longer. I guess Great Lakes says they can't take over the EAS routes in WI/MI that SYX is currently flying until at least next year. And obviously, the whole Air Tran deal is one giant ????.

I recently got hired at Skyway, and like the poster before me was saying it's all what you make of it. The appeal to me was that they're near by (used to flight instruct out of the Chicago area) so moving wasn't going to be as big a hassle and the cost of living is cheaper in Wisconsin. Also, their mins aren't as high so you can get in there more easily if you have a reasonable amount of time.

I suppose the tradeoff may be a busy schedule (I hear their captains are flying almost 100hrs a month). And a little uncertainty as to the direction the company is going in. But having talked to several of their pilots they seem to really enjoy working there. And the people I interviewed with were very nice and pleasant. Plus I may be one of the few out there but I really think the 328 is a great aircraft and have always wanted to fly one, so that has some appeal as well.

I'd say don't waste your time. 1900's will go away eventually, meaning only 130 or so pilots. Upgrade could take forever depending on how much abuse everyone there now is willing to take. Skyway USED to be a great place to work. They were never PFT, had a great training dept., good schedules, etc. That is all gone. Nobody cares at Midwest now that Skywest is there. Next contract is amendable next year, and I don't forsee it going well. Airtran will probably end up getting Midwest, like another poster said, raising more doubts. My advice- Go somewhere that is growing and live in base. Those two things are about it that you should really strive for at a regional.
