Eagle Upgrades!

For everyone bashing the 6 1/2 year upgrade time at eagle here is a little news. I just did the math on the seniority list. From the most junior capt to a 1/04 new hire, there are only aprox. 170 pilots. At 50 -70 upgrades a month like we have been averaging, that means in 3 or 4 months, upgrade time will be a little over 3 years.

UnlimitedAkro 06-13-2007 11:52 AM

yeah ive heard similar upgrade times from other pilots.

Eagle is needing pilots pretty bad right now....

Send in your RESUME!!!

JoeyMeatballs 06-13-2007 11:57 AM

by the Looks of his AVATAR UnlimtedAkro was the last guy to upgrade.............:p

UnlimitedAkro 06-13-2007 12:03 PM

...and i almost thought I was going to have to retire before they upgraded me..... WHEW

BigPropz 06-13-2007 01:22 PM

No send me a PM and ill help u with the interview and can get answers for your questions!!!!

Wow, you guys must really be short. I was thinking of applying at eagle (later) since a lot of CFI's have been passing because of the notorious upgrade times. I'm just a ground worker, but that tells me that upgrade times will be lagging later at these other carriers.

How long do you guys think the choice of base will last?

robthree 06-13-2007 04:42 PM

Chris,
I'd say they're never going to get rid of the base choice, unless they can not find anyone for the SJU operation. Now that its part of the process they'll need to have some dramatic event to change it. Eagle has more inertia than it deserves. They probably using some of AMRs.

Hey Eglcl65,

Interviewing soon with Eagle, can't use the PM part yet if I may, but wanted to get some of your inputs and advice of how things handeled at Eagle (Interview process and such) and if offered a position what's the chances of crj versus erj? do they all fly out of all bases?

Totally.
I already posted that math though.... http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/sh...5&postcount=34

I just hope the trend does continue as they say it will. Of course that 170 pilots does not include all the F/Os senior to #1701 that are choosing to bypass upgrade and wait for a jet slot as they don't want to be seat locked in a turboprop for 12 months. They only way to figure that number for yourself is to do the "3U" command for every FO seat/base.

I made the prediction that upgrade time would be down to 4 years by the end of 2007 and 3 years by the end of 2008. Looks like it is happening slightly faster than that! Congratulations! So, if you were hired by Eagle around January 2006, look for a 3 year upgrade!

To anybody upgrading soon at Eagle, I say CONGRATS! You've certainly earned it. :)

BigPropz 06-14-2007 04:33 PM

Yes its 18 this month but we can backfill some so im quessing about 25-30 this time around. Its so low cause the school house is maxed out so give it a month or two b4 we get to the big bid again

2Lazy 06-14-2007 05:33 PM

ryane--dude your "prediction" was only like 2 months ago:rolleyes: High five man!

Once again, backfills do not create net upgrades. If a Captain moves to a different airplane then a backfill-able vacancy is created. Only one FO gets an upgrade, although 2 pilots get different seats. It only creates extra training cycles, not actual upgrades.

This bid reflects a probable net of 14 new upgrades with the announcement to not backfill up to the first 4 DCS vacancies created. The company Q&A page very recently stated an expectation of about 20 CA vacancies per month through year's end, so don't be disappointed when more bids with 45-80 CA vacancies don't materialize.
