Wow... Cool pix. I'm glad I didn't do it. I can't believe the pic of the wheel ground down to the brakes.

freezingflyboy 06-14-2007 05:26 AM

Guess we know the brakes work:D

Seriously though, story I heard was that the CVR had the guys screwing around, pretending the parking brake handle "dropped the bombs". If thats true, nice one guys:rolleyes:

hahah that blows (no pun intended) where and when was this?

Bri85 06-14-2007 05:38 AM

Im pretty sure that cost someone, if not both pilots their job. Unless it was mechanical of course.

IIRC, that was Mid-Atlantic a few years ago and it was a parking brake malfunction (or the brake hydrualics malfunctioned and behaved like a parking brake).

Short-field technique gone wrong...

BigPropz 06-14-2007 10:26 AM

Huh? It certainly looks like an E-170. Might have been during the MidAtlantic days, but still a 170.

duvie 06-14-2007 11:33 AM

I heard a rumor that there is a trick to getting a slight hydraulic system malfunction to right itself in flight by messing with the parking brake. They guys just forgot to stow it when they were done messing around
