Atc would have initiated your descent well before then ,even if the PD descent out of cruise was not sufficient.
exactly. ATC would have gotten involved long before that. Not to mention, the captain would have gotten raked over the coals for allowing that abomination to happen. There is a difference between sink or swim, and gross negligence.

That's what happened, I was sitting there watching it. I probably wouldn't have believed it either lol. Yes I expected ATC to intervene but it must have been a slow day.

The CA advised approach that training was in progress and that they would descend in the procedure turn.

Always been that way. Now they’ve got 1500. :-P

The E in IOE stands for experience. There is no T for training. This is initial operating failure.

General question: Is the training center full at your airline? If so you have a training shortage not a shortage of qualified applicants.

Frontier is hiring people with less than 1500 into their current new hire classes. These are pilots from their ATP flight school programs. One currently in class has 1500 TT, 25 ME.

ATP students aren’t eligible for a a R-ATP until they hit the 1500 hour mark. The 1000 (4 year degree) and 1250 (2 year associates) exemptions are for Part 141 university graduates who completed the required coursework to be eligible. The 750 is for military…..

You don’t need the 1500 hours until the end of the AQP course and the sim time in the AQP course counts. So they can hire guys with ‘just under’ 1500. Regionals have been doing this for several years. Sounds like Frontier is now doing it too according to jpso.

Yes he failed her for good on that. She had been counseled on the descent planning previously. He wanted a definitive justification for management, and he got it.

It was certainly unusual, but coordinated with ATC I can't think of any regs or safety violations.
