SKW class Date

I was just informed that I will be in the 9th class date on the RJ in SLC.

I'll tell you what, after being with other carriers SKW really has their act together. Yes the first year pay is low and I'll have to cut some of my expenditures but I'm really excited and looking fwd to it.

Sharing a room is the only drawback.

I heard that once our training is done that there is a 4 wk wait for your IOE, any comments on that!!!

duvie 06-21-2007 12:19 PM

They say the 4 week vacations are less frequent. You'll do your 700/900 differences sim shortly after you finish your 200 stuff. Some people speculate that they may start doing IOE in the 700.

Good luck! Ground can get kinda boring but once you start the FTDs its alot of fun and goes by quickly

They've been doing IOE in the 700 for a couple of months, unless you'll be based in MKE.

What are the chances of getting SLC????

duvie 06-21-2007 12:48 PM

I don't think there have been any SLC in the last few classes. Mostly MKE, ORD, FAT. There was a class in March that was split between SLC, DEN and ORD. You never know

bigskyflyer 06-21-2007 12:51 PM

Thanks for the info.

flyfresno 06-21-2007 02:28 PM

I'm in July 9 too, see you there!

I know folks who are on the 4 week plan right now. But who knows, they may catch up at some point.

Until they fill up MKE with those willing (could take a long while), it would be more than a safe-bet to plan on MKE for atleast a little while...Heck, you'll be taking my place ;-)

One plus: Cookies...warm, fresh cookies!

bigskyflyer 06-21-2007 02:57 PM

Warm, fresh cookies??

Midwest has this gimmick where they serve hot, fresh baked cookies on every flight. When SKW signed with them, they had to retrofit the CRJ's with little ovens and train the FA's how to bake cookies! :)

Actually that could be very dangerous...replace my per-leg pretzel snack with tollhouse cookies. I could weigh 240 in no time :(

Avi8er1008 06-21-2007 04:18 PM

I'll take your spot in MKE. I have my transition bid in and I'm just waiting to get back to class! 2 and a half months!

Koolaidman 06-21-2007 04:24 PM

Avi8er1008,

Were you in the 9-4-2006 EMB class? I am waiting to go to MKE too. I want ORD first so I can get 700 trained so I can trip trade with open time.

Some one will be taking my place in MKE in a few months. Been awarded SLC OCT 1st and I can't wait.

flyfresno 06-21-2007 05:30 PM

Skywest has standing bids out for October already? Wow, how far in advance do they award bases usually?

Yeah I thought it was pretty far out to. Everyone who got awarded the same month as me is not going until OCT.

bender 06-21-2007 07:33 PM

MKE is definately tempting as I'd bid #9 there. Good chance on a MCI base as well.

I've been at Skywest for a year now, I live in SLC and fly the 120. I can't go over to the jet in SLC cause there "over staffed" there now!!! I'm pretty mad. They award new hire bases 3 months out and screw us. ( Not your fault) I've got 700+ under me and I'm stuck. If your new and want SLC it's going to take a while. There's 30ish people that want to go over and fly the jet in SLC and there are almost 40 that want to transfer to SLC. Rumor is when they opened ATL, they took some planes and took the lines with them. I'm done venting. I just want 35.00 an hour and not 27.00.

dbchandler1 06-21-2007 10:01 PM

Hey Otter were you in the 8/7/06 bro class?

Take the upgrade, that will solve your financial problems...you should be pretty close to that in SLC now.
