Bose?

I know a lot of people recommend the Bose X, but how many actual airline pilots use them? Or any jet for that matter. Isnt it fine to use these light weight in the ear types, or is it really that loud in the plane?

I don't know much about the RJ operators, but the Bose is king in the T-props, that's for sure.

The ERJ is awfully loud in my experience, so I'm guessing the Bose would work well there, also, but I have no idea for sure.

From what I hear Bose is really good for props and Telex 850's are good in jets. They have ANR and all you need is hot mic. no need for batteries and extremely light.

Any SAAB drivers out there have any input on how well the Bose works out in the airplane? Is there another headset that works equally well for the SAAB but won't cost me most of this months paychek to get? Ive got Lightspeed 15XL's but theyre startin to breakdown and i'm thinkin about upgrading.

I can say the Bose is GREAT for piston stuff but I don't know for jets. I've heard it isn't good in the ERJ because there is no squelch for the mike and it picks up ambient cabin noise and activates the intercom hot mike the whole flight. But again this is just what I've heard. If true, somebody must already have a solution.

I wear the Bose X in the DHC-8 and they work great. I have never had a problem with them in the last 5 years for both piston and turbo prop flying.

I use bose on the CRJ

I still use my Bose from my instructing years in the 145. Works great. However, I would not go out and buy one just for the jet.
