RAA says shortage will cause contraction
Swelling pilot pay could force US regionals to contract, impacting communities: CEOshttps://d3lcr32v2pp4l1.cloudfront.ne...ock_723515.jpg Higher pilot pay rates at regional airlines could become a problem as carriers seek to balance a pilot shortage with maintaining flights to smaller US communities. or it'll attract people who didn't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money to make sub 40k a year with crap QOL. The money was always there, the carriers were banking it instead.
it'll take time to get those people in the door though. |
Just need to get regional feed for the regionals.

Already have that at AAG. AA pilots now fly feed for WO pilots.

Not mentioned anywhere in the article: while regional pilot pay has been poverty level to this point, incommensurate with the technical labor provided, the newfound ability of regional pilots to feed themselves may result in some hypothetical service drawbacks to obscure communities

False. Regional pilot pay hasn't been "poverty level" for many many years now.

Not to mention Republic, SkyWest, Air Wisconsin, had very low wages for entry level FOs last year. If it wasn’t for the 1500 hour rule starting pay would not have increased dramatically at all.

SOURCE: https://www.flightglobal.com/strateg...150258.article Also notice the angle that "small communities will suffer." What WILL happen FIRST is a reduction in the number of regional flights at medium sized cities by replacing hourly regionals with fewer larger planes. This is a win for decreasing congestion (of both airspace and at hub airports). Fewer larger planes also INCREASES fuel EFFICIENCY and also LOWERS per-passenger (CASM) costs (especially at the current fuel $$$ and regional pilot $$$). |

I had a 400% pay increase from where I started this year to where I am now. That wouldn’t be the case if a full/restricted ATP was not the requirement. |
If you have five people in your household then yes that was poverty.

Now that being said, the Federal Reserve/government is making each dollar worth less and less by printing more and more resulting in price and monetary inflation. |

RAA is 8 years late to the party as usual. We told them this was coming within 5 years back in 2014. Covid gave them 2 extra years.
