How much do you fly?
I have been looking at the Regional FO's pay scales lately, and 22$ @ 70 hours comes out at like 1540. But here is the question, how much do you guys really fly? How much does a first year FO really make?
Thank you |

Thank you The second check of the month might have an extra 300$$ or more from your per diem depending on how long you are gone, so throw that in there as well. suck it up for the first year or two and let it pay off in the long run :p |
when i was trying to come up w/ a budget, i figured my pay at reserve guarentee which was 70 hrs i think, and a couple hundred bux of per/diem, so say 1540 x .80 for taxes, plus 200 = 1432.
After getting a line, i figured at 85 hrs mo, and 300 in perdiem = 1496 + 300 = 1796 mo. i think the average pilot is actually flying around 80-85 hrs a month, during the summer its more in the low 90's ... credit for a month can be anywhere from those low 90's through the low 100's...on average, i see about 2k a mo. |
2k a month max, gross... don't forget to deduct your taxes, medical insurance, uniform deduction, and miscellania.
Figure the net is about 1500. It just doen't go vary far when you eat in airports and hotels. |
I'll get around 95-110 pay hours this month.

Hi!
USA Jet pays about $51/hr for a 55 hour guarantee (in the Falcon-if you start in the -9 it's about $55/hr). If it is busy it is easy to fly over guarantee. If you sell a day off (12/month in the Falcon, 13 in the -9) you get 4 hours of pay for that day. Also, if you're flying freight, not PAX, you get $100 to load/unload the plane. Last year a 2nd year Falcon FO made $7k. In one month. cliff YIP PS-PM me w/ your email if you want details... |
Well, last month I flew about 185 hours, but beeing in the 1900 allows us to fly under 135 mins. Thought I was rich @ $3500 per month!
I think most guys in rjs in the lower 48 fly about 70-90 hours per month. I really wished I was paid to load and unload the freight, at your rate I would get an extra $400-$800 per day when flying freight. |
Hi!
Wow. 185 is A LOT of hours. The most hours I've heard here is 115 (for the Falcons-flying under 135). That guy was a capt-he sold back all of his days off (lives in base) to do it, so he was paid for about 155 hours of flying at about $125/hour. Lots of money. cliff YIP |
My net for one month is usually around $2300. I usually fly about 85-90 hours a month and get paid for 95-120ish plus per diem.

Next month is the girlfriends last month of vacation (teacher) so I ended up with 16 days off and an 84 hour line. A few T-storms in IAH and some ground stops in EWR and I'll probably end up somewhere near 90-95 hours of credit. |
