Mesa Air orders $334 million of Bombardier jets
 

"MONTREAL, July 3 (Reuters) - Bombardier Inc. said on Tuesday that Mesa Air Group Inc. will buy 10 of its CRJ700 regional jets in an order valued at $334 million.

Two of the CRJ700 orders are conversions from previously ordered CRJ900 aircraft. The jets will be operated for United Airlines."


Does this mean they are retiring some of those Dash-8's and Beech 1900's? :confused::rolleyes:

Who knows with these people. They can't staff planes but are getting more. Go figure.

Ref their staffing, just this past weekend on Friday my mom was stuck in IAD....while trying to pass ride to ORD........so I pulled up "several" flights to smaller cities then from that city to ORD......needless to say Majority of the flights (early morning) were cancelled due to pilot shortage, and were MESA flights......I see they are offering a sign on bonus, makes me wonder why they are having a hard time keeping pilots and canceling sooooo many flights.....in all I'd estimate it was about 15-17 flights (just that I pulled up) that were cancelled on 06-29-07.

Do a search for MESA. You'll find the answer to that question very quickly! Of course, they aren't the only ones cancelling flights for lack of crew. NWA was hosed last month too.

Could you take that and run? What are they offering?

Part of the contract with United allows Mesa to swap some of the 200s for 700s on a schedule that as far as I can tell Mesa gets to choose (which seems odd, but there is no real indication of who drives what swap and when). They are not really additional aircraft because you'd have to expect that the 200s will either go to China or get returned to the owner unless somebody pops out of the woodwork and wants Mesa to fly 200s for them - not a stunningly likely prospect.

These are NexGen 700s, which again, as far as I can tell, is a 2008 delivery date at the earliest (and given Mesa is the launch customer for the NexGen I guess they'll get the first 10 off the line if they want them).

Ooooooooooh, do they have Type R stickers on them?
