Default Interesting schedule predicament for 9e pilots..

Well we are going to this "pref bid" which in design seems very sweet, but in reality we are short staffed and the pilot group feels the company is manipulating the system..Plus many are against the "change" from traditional bid packs..anyway.. August is our first month to use this as our OFFICIAL bidding tool. Our bids closed today at noon (which they do every month) but there are no schedules.. They have until noon tommorrow to post em (normally they are posted within just a few minutes). I had to talk to scheduling today about getting bought out and asked the question- they have absolutely NO CLUE when it will post. Supposedly the system is not "working so well" so this can be interesting. If they aren't there by tommorrow at noon its a union grievance, and if not there by the 25th we are all off with guarantee pay! Any assignments after that are junior mans! For everyone's sake I am hoping it gets worked out but all the pncl people I have heard chatting about it want the month off over the money.

Sure this will probrably get worked out but at least we can watch other people be in the hot seat for once!

Who else uses pref-bid (by kronos) and how long does it take to get a "solution"?

PBS is great for senior guys, and not that great for junior. I still think it beats the old style bid packets though.

My experiences with PBS are that I am getting much worse than what I bid from a bid pack. There are a few days for the schedule to "post" so I will see what happens- just curious how other airlines fare/fared with PBS.

Keep us posted on this topic. Mesaba (and Compass) are going to PBS in January. We are supposed to start parallel bidding using PBS in October, but the last I heard we haven't even bought the software yet. I think they are still looking at the options. I have heard the good and bad about it as well. Very interested to hear how your schedules come out.

If you don't have good work ruled to start out with you're screwed. Skywest just got it about a year ago... from what i hear form everyone pre PBS life was a lot better.

God no! I can turn two weeks of vacation into two months with our system...with PBS that would never happen, and that's just the beginning, I have friends that have gone to CAL and they're not happy with PBS, as someone mentioned, it benefits the senior folks only.
