Denied by Eagle

Well, Eagle informed me this morning through email that my application wasn't as competative as others and I could reapply in six months. I have 1100 and 115, but back to the drawing board. That's life.

Have you applied to other airlines? Those times are pretty competetive in today's world.

that's crazy! Do you have anything on your driving or faa records? I've talked to several people who were invited for an interview after submitting an app with just above 800 and 100.

Squawk_5543 07-09-2007 12:35 PM

2 of our instructors got hired on not too long ago....one of them I know for a fact applied right when he hit 800/100...now he's in Saab school.

Whacker77 07-09-2007 12:52 PM

Nothing on my record that I know of, but there are other airlines. I was surprised though. Like I said, that's life.

That's not life, that's AE. My buddy got hired by them with 700TT/115ME, then fired before training for no apparent reason, then rehired. It was an absolute mess. By the time AE figured out that they had screwed up BIG TIME, he took a job at ExpressJet and told AE to go pound salt.

Yeah, typical AE bizzareness.

takpilot 07-09-2007 02:34 PM

Me too...

Well 1480, 127 ME doesn't qualify me as the rest of the eagle's applicants for this month...:D oh well, I'll keep looking for an employer then, business and life I think.

Cheers.

mregan 07-09-2007 03:00 PM

Same thing happened to a good fried of mine about 4 months ago, he got hired at EAgle he was a Citation II FO w about 2000 TT and like 3 days before training they called him and said they couldnt hire him because of some violation his company had that he was not at fault for and didnt know ab out, so they said sorry we cant hire you, he just finished LOFT at XJET...kudos to him. Eagle does have its positives however.

Say whaaa???

poor pilot 07-09-2007 04:35 PM

Don't worry about that crap it's hit of miss next week someone with the same exact time or even less will get the job you may get hired by another airline within the next thirty days so keep your head up and keep us posted.

mregan 07-09-2007 05:09 PM

Crewdog, I know it sounds weird , he didnt really get into all the details and I havent talked to him since so Im not exactly 100% on what violation the company had. Oh well, I still think Eagle is a good place to go as I ahve a couple friends who fly here out of BOS on them.

MetJet23 07-09-2007 05:10 PM

Sorry Whacker...

Not that interviewing/hiring is supposed to make any sense at all...But can anyone shed some light on this? With all the hiring supposedly going on at Eagle, why would they pass someone up with these times without even offering an interview?? Best of luck with the rest Whacker...

swaayze 07-09-2007 07:45 PM

They shouldn't be passing on you guys unless you are not current or have some other box unchecked on the app. Double check your application. Is your medical a current first class? Are you current? Do you meet all the other mins: FCC RTOP? Age 21 (or whatever the min is nowadays)? Point is they ARE very picky that you meet the published quals and currency is a must, so doublecheck that you're not missing something.

Good luck.

surreal1221 07-09-2007 07:52 PM

Maybe they don't want the more experience ones, knowing that they'll stick around for their TSIC time, and move on to a better company. . . *shurg*

Ellen 07-09-2007 07:55 PM

Maybe they just didn't like you. So what? Who Cares?

Next!

I assumed he had interviewed and then been rejected (there is no ryhme or reason to eagle interviews...I think they just draw names out of a hat after the interview). With those times he should not have gotten rejected for an interview unless there was something wrong with the app...either a typo, missing prerequisite, or background problem.

If you're current and have a clean background, recheck the online app for mistakes. Don't forget periods of unemployment...airline applicants who have unaccounted-for employment gaps are automatically assumed to have spent that time flying herion for the cartels.

ANPBird 07-09-2007 08:41 PM

Don't worry about the Eagle rejection!

I got rejected from Eagle a few years back when I had over 2500 & 800 hours and was bummed for awhile but moved on to bigger and better. Now I am at SkyWest and have never been happier! I will make Capt. long before all my buddies there will ever think about upgrading!

emj55 07-09-2007 09:06 PM

One thing everyone must understand! Getting an airline job is like flipping a quarter. No one knows why. Ive known some great people that got turned down, and seen some total loser jacka$$e$ come away with the job.

VTcharter 07-10-2007 09:27 AM

No rhyme or reason to eagle interview invites. I applied over a year ago and was sent the, "you do not meet competitive minimums" letter. I changed nothing on the application and just got invited to an interview two weeks ago after not logging onto the airline apps website since getting denied. Same times (1200tt / 250 multi) posted on the application as I never bothered to go in and update, and obviously the same boxes checked or unchecked. Makes no real sense, because at the time I applied, everyone was saying how bad Eagle needed pilots, blah, blah, blah. Oh well...I ended up with my goal job in the mean time so it all worked out. Good luck

Holy cow man! They have got to get their schise together at AE. Those times would qualify you at most majors in Europe! LOL So, I take it you got the job this time around?

No...I turned the interview down. I had always wanted to fly corporate / charter, and after I was turned down for Eagle a year ago, I found a job at a charter company that I had been interested in for a long time. This is my career flying position. I have been here for a year now, and have since got my ATP as well as my CE-560 PIC type rating, and am enjoying the lifestyle of working for a growing (substantially) company that appreciates its employees, and is located five miles from my front door!! I gave up on the whole airline dream and am glad that I did.

blastboy 07-10-2007 02:27 PM

VTcharter - I'm glad things worked out for the better! :)

DustoffVT 07-10-2007 05:53 PM

VTcharter - glad to hear you like Heritage. I can't PM yet - but the fact that you'd consider a career there inspired me to finally join. I'm also 5 miles away, and miss fixed wing. Hope we can connect soon.

Andrew_VT 07-10-2007 06:39 PM

yay Vermont!

that is all...:D

Dustoff did you ever fly out of north ramp?

1100\115 isn’t competitive? Wow. They must not have liked the way you looked or something.

Andrew, yeah, I got my ATP there in 2000. I learned to fly at the Valley when I was in high school. Glad to see that NR aviation is still kicking.

Thats the point. He didn't even get offered the interview and received the turn down letter based on his application, with all of the boxes checked, no bad history and more flight time than most who are getting hired. I am sure that they get tons of applications, but the automated filing system should be able to sort through based on qualifications required, and getting a, "you do not meet competitive requirements" letter, when it is obvious that you do, is a problem. For an airline that is screaming for warm bodies, it would seem that they need to re-evaluate the performance of this system.

RVCguy44 08-06-2007 02:52 PM

Whacker77, the fact that you did not make it through CHQ training a couple months ago is probably why Eagle passed on you.. despite the competitive times, they want to know you will pass a 121 training program.

trunk junk 08-06-2007 07:27 PM

All the airlines just use a magic 8 ball. None of thier hiring practices seem to make any sense.

Bingo.... Eagle will not hire you if you have failed out of 121 training.

RightSeatDude 08-07-2007 03:09 AM

Screw 'em. Who needs a nine-year upgrade to a turboprop, anyway? It's life alright... a wonderful life!

Just for the record, I didn't fail CHQ's training program. I left the training program because my Mom's breast cancer progressed significantly and I decided to be home with her rather than there.

SebastianDesoto 08-07-2007 09:21 AM

I guess this post is as good as any to ask these questions:

Being that AE is so sensitive to making sure you got absolutly everything in order and correct, what are ALL the documents required to bring with you to an interview?

Yeah. You're not really supposed to be "fried" when you apply for an airline job. I think that was the problem.

Where are you based? Is your company hiring? I currently fly for a regional and having flown citations before I've always wanted to make a career out of flying corp/charter. -Maybe I should have turned down that interview?
