Most flights in the NE go in and out of LGA. I dont know what the number of daily departures per airport are for Colgan, but I'd bet that either LGA or IAH is #1. And I wouldn't expect anything longer than the 1 hour call out even if LGA becomes a base.

I've done 1 repo on the USAirways side, and 1 repo on the United side...I have been online for 4 months. The people that do the most repo flights are the Manassas people, and maybe the CHO/CRW guys...

Overall...not too bad, in my opinion.

amazingly, we are really fat on FO's right now. There is hardly any open time to pick up. PIT is now a base. OUr issue now is the q400 and having enough captains to staff the saabs and q400's. We just don't have enough people ready for upgrade. Once the q400 gets staffed, FO's and captains on the saab will be able to hold just about any base they want. It looks like PVD and MHT will also be q400 destinations, but like saab said, good luck getting in and out of EWR. Upgrade time on the saab is about to drop to past lows becuase of demand. The sept 06 hires will be upgrading in oct or nov of this yr. I'd expect to see some street captains also unless we get rid of the 1900's and move all of them over to the saab and q400.

MX has been a lot better lately also for some reason. Maybe cause pcl is pumping more money into it. I haven't seen an MEL is a while. LGA and IAD are on the ball with the air carts this year also. I think armageddon is among us.............. other than that, all is same at colgan. IF you live in base, it's very worth it. Upgrade times will be back down to 12-14 months on the saab real soon. If you live in base, it's a total different company. Good luck with the decision.

PS, NOV 05 colgan hires are all thru upgrade now, or whoever is left :-)

Not what I heard. According to HEF we're extremely extremely short. Maybe our current FO's are just open-time hoggers.

Shamrok, I was in your place about a year ago. I also live in the northeast about 30 miles south of Boston, between Boston and the Cape. Colgan has been great to me thus far and they will work with you to get your base of choice. PVD is going to have some movement in the next few months, FO's upgrading and Capt's leaving so it looks good. HYA is a summer base, I just got based there after doing 2 months in PQI which is not bad to commute to so long you can get to Logan easily, plus they list you pos space to get you to work. Everyone, I have met and dealt with at Colgan has been nothing short of nice and understanding. As you may read it isn't for everyone, especially if you get a mx base, don't bid ALB! I can help you out with some questions if you have some more. The Saab is a challenging and interesting aircraft. I feel that I have benefited on some great 121 experience with Colgan getting into some of the busiest airports in the nation LGA, BOS, plus the weather you encounter is quite the challenge also. Keep looking to see what would fit you best, as for being close to home Colgan is great, there is also Cape Air who are a great company however, you wont get that tubine time though that the majors look at. For some people like me that doesnt matter much because I dont want to go to the majors, I want to be home at night! Best of luck bro.

Thanks for the info Alex. I know the northeast has it's weather challenges. All of my experience has been here in New England and the experience is good to have under the belt. As far as Colgan, I am going to attend a job fair in Chicago Aug 25 where Chuck Colgan and Kathy Angelo will be also. My times are low right now but will be a little higher come mid Aug. Right now(don't laugh) I am at 350TT and 30 Multi. I know people are getting hired with less at other airlines but I am only interested in a company that has a base close to my region as mentioned. Do you think I would be wasting a recruiters time as well as mine attending the job fair? I am pretty sure I could land an interview with Colgan. Let me know if i am mistaken.
