I think he would get hired at a regional. I can't see any other type of airline, corporate or fractional taking him though. I had a similar but much lesser issue in that I took a non-flying job after the Air Force since I didn't want to go regional and no one else was hiring. I finally had some interviews but NetJets for example came right out and told me that no flying in last 6 months = no job even if the simulator eval goes well. I then decided to go with a regional afterall. Time since my last flight was about 9 months when I started training. Since the regionals hire people with essentially no experience I am sure your buddy can get interviews. He may want to get some sim time for those that have a simulator portion of the interview and do some instrument refresher training. Studying for the ATP written will help in that regard. I believe that for anyone who has been non-flying for 6 months or more will have to put in some regional time if they want a flying career outside GA.

Kicker... hasnt flown but for hire in 13 years. Recently took refresher course and has flown about 25 hours. Mostly instrument and air work, 6 hours of that in a twin. 1000 hours of flying was 121 for AE in the early 90's.

Where's the ATP?
