Max fligh time for junior FO's?
Hello all,
Are there any regionals out there that actually give new FO's more opportunity to actually fly instead of sit reserve all of the time. So many sad stories from my friends who are six months to one year in at a regional airline and they are still barely flying. One friend has barely cracked 200 hours in a year. |

All the regionals are captain constrained. Senior FO's get to fly. Junior FO's sit reserve. |
I hate to make it sound like I'm giving them any positive light, but doesn't Republic have senior FO no-fly lines? So FOs who are just waiting on seniority to upgrade into being a line-holding CA can bid to stay at home?

I’ve flown about 450 hours after my first 5 months on the line at my company…

At my regional I kept hearing I would be on reserve for about a year and a half but was able to hold a line in 7 months. Things are changing so what’s true yesterday won’t be true in 6-12 months. |

Zero no-fly lines were awarded for the previous two months at RPA. That could change at the company’s discretion, but that’s anyone’s guess. To the OP and new hires, that’s how seniority works. If one does not like the system, might be best to find a different career where seniority is not as big a factor in every aspect of one’s career.

Getting paid to sit at home. You’ll learn to appreciate that young padawan...

Can you imagine any job in the world that would pay you $7,600 a month (mesa, and ENVD) to do nothing but sit at home for 20-25 days in the month being on call with a 12-18 hour callout? people would KILL for a job like that. There was a month where I stayed at home for 28 days being on long call. got a fat salary, used the time to non rev, travel the world, spend time with family, and have fun. Couldn't have asked for a better job. I'm basically living like a retired man one year into my career LOL Once they go to another airline and fly their ass off, they will hate it and regret the switch. |
