Default Republic? Or Wisconsin?

First time poster.... I just got the call from these two places for job interviews. I'll be interviewing within a week of each other and I just wanted to get some last minute opinions on the two. I have friends at both, and both are happy with their jobs.

I appreciate it!

I'd say Republic for career progression.. but not doubt, Wiskey will treat you much much better than RAH ever will

I would have to agree with this... Republic upgrade is most likely MUCH less than that of AWAC at this time, however work rules at AWAC are pretty good. I guess the bottom line is that they both have good and bad points, so I'm guessing you can't go wrong with either really...

RAH is in contract negotiations though. Some of the work rules could change. I don't think it's bad at all here at RAH I've been treated great. Kilo you were at Colgan... I had an AWAC guy in my training class. He didn't seem to think there was too much of a difference in how the treat you. He switched for the domicile (St. Louis) and the upgrade time.

Texan aviator if you don't mind me asking, what type of hours do you have? I know people at both places, they both love their respective airlines. The AWAC guy loves it he's done with training as of this weekend, the other guy just started training at republic about 2-3 weeks ago.

Determine your priorities among these factors:

1) Where you'd be living/based and commuting issues
2) Pay
3) Equipment
4) Industry reputation
5) Expected career progression/upgrade/where people go when they leave
6) How well others like working for each company
7) How well you think the company will fare in this dog eat dog world (usually anybody's guess, but use your crystal ball if you have it)

See which one does the best among your top priorities. Good luck.

You can probably rule base selection out, as both have PHL and DCA bases... ORF is kinda getto, so we can count that one out as well . However, AWAC schedules are much more commuter friendly compared to RAH. (or so I've been told)

If it's about money check out the pay scales. I know over time a captain will make more money at RAH, but if your looking to be able to survive first year pay; AWAC would be better. Another thing that AWAC offers that almost no other airline has anymore is duty rigs.

Pilots are paid the greater of one of the following:

One hour of flight pay for ever 2.0 hours of duty
One hour of flight pay for every 4 trip hours
3 hour minimum for each calendar day
Actual flight time
Scheduled flight time

Also take a look at these figures pulled from APC

RAH FO 1st year $23 2nd $30 3rd $35
AWAC FO 1st year $24 2nd $35 3rd $37

EMB 170-190
RAH CA 1- $63 2- $67 3- $71
EMB 145 1- $55 2- $58 3- $

AWAC CRJ 200
1- $57 2- $59 3- $61

Take the info for what it's worth. Good luck in your decision!

P.S. I like this company!

I've got a buddy at Wisconson who has been on reserve for a year. Most of the Captains he flies with hate the company and complain continuously. With all the hiring going on at RAH I doubt you'll be on reserve long, if at all and the upgrade will likely drop.

You won't know which is right until you look back five + years from now!

Good luck!
