Trip List

i was at my friends house and on the back of his door he had a memory list of things to make sure he had before he went out on a trip whether 2,3, or 4 day. It included things like ID, Passport, Second Uniform, toiletries and such. he had it divided up into a list for 2 day, 3 day and 4 days and the numbers of different items he'd need. Unfortunately I didn't write it down. I was wondering if anyone else had made such a list (or has recommendations for such a list) that they'd be willing to share to those of us without a list that are thinking of making such a list.

I've been thinking about a checklist like that as well...but too lazy to do anything about it :-P

If anybody has one that works, feel free to post it here!!

Leave the checklists at work.

Yeeaaahhh...thats pretty much all I do too. Dig the stuff out for my girlfriend to wash, have a separate set of toiletries for at home and on the road, swap out my overnight clothes, etc. Although I DO need to have a freaking checklist on the door because I have forgotten my ID at home twice in the last year!:D

Ouch that sucks..... yep road toiletries and home stuff never mix.... dirty clothes out... clean stuff in.... new book or mag in.... I always did try to run a mental check for the things I HAD to have....ID, crew key, etc.... I started just clipping my company ID to the dash of my car so It was always there.

When I pack my suitcase, I usually start by placing all the clothes I am going to need into a couple of piles on the bed. i.e., skivies, socks, shirts, pants/shorts, and running gear. From there I place it all into the suitcase and zip it up.

For toiletries I keep a separate set in my shaving kit with a good reserve supply of toiletries in the closet. I place this in the suitcase after I verify I have everything I need.

I don't have a written checklist, but I do have a memory checklist I do prior to leavin the house with regards to my brain bag. Before I leave the house, I always run through it and make sure I have everything I need and that I'm not missing anything.

I have a couple of tips for this. First, clip it to your uniform shirt while it is still hanging in the closet. That way when you put your shirt on your i.d. is already on it. Or, once you know you are going to be home until you walk out the door, place your i.d. in the fold of your wallet. Or, (last one, promise) place it in your brain bag when you get home from a trip.

Any time that I leave home or a hotel I check for these key ingredients, which are always on my body (or in a pocket):

Wallet
Phone
ID/Lanyard
Keys

I started keeping it in a pocket on my suitcase. No matter how long the trip I take the suitcase since you never know what could happen. Plus my flight case doesn't have wheels. Can't leave it in the brain bag since sometimes I leave that in the crew room before leaving the airport.
