Default Non-Rev Travel

Can anyone tell me of a way to check how many seats are available on a particular flight for airlines other than the one I am employed by?

This is generally not readily available because airlines don't want their competitors tracking their loads.

Some airlines (SWA for example) have a public non-rev number that will tell you approximate loads (good, fair, bad).

Also you can look on an airlines public websites and try to buy a ticket...this will give you some info, especially for companies that let you select your seat online. The websites will show not available for flights that are within 1.5 - 6 hours from departure so it's not so good for last minute stuff.

The best thing would be to decide which airlines you want to use and ask around to get their non-rev phone numbers.

Exactly. This method never fails me. Though I usually non-rev with HP/US and AS, both of which have non-rev phone numbers that can/should be called.

Whenever I'm going to jumpseat on jetBlue, I call the reservations 800 number beforehand and list myself for the jumpseat. They always tell me how many open seats there are on the flight.

They all have websites, but they are secure with employee-specific user ID's and passwords...for both security and business reasons. You will not get access unless you work there.

As said above, you will have to call the non-rev phone numbers and if you talk to someone nice on the other end they will tell you the loads. Otherwise they will tell you good, fair, bad, ect. I just called the AA non-rev number a few mins ago and they wouldn't tell me loads but said the flight was fair I am trying to get on tomorrow. At SkyWest we have all the non rev phone numbers posted on our company website. I am sure other airlines have the same info and numbers as we do. Good Luck!

Just call to reservations, list yourself, and ask nicely if the flights looking full or not
Or how many other airline employees are listed
