Republic Airlines Commute

If one were to get hired at Republic on the Republic certificate and get DEN, how hard would commuting to Tucson be?

Also, how is life in DEN on the 170/175?

Looks like 7 direct flights per day, not sure of the loads though. Only 170s in DEN and it may take a while for you to get out there.

Thanks KiloAlpha, Are you at Republic now? How is Denver? Are 170/175 trips different from other airframes? They look a little longer. How's the corporate culture?

It seems people are happy there and I'm pretty excited to start next month.:D

They were plugging new hires into DEN but no idea if that's still going on. You'd make it eventually if you got hired on to the RW certificate.

I just started class for RW. I'd say about half the new hires in my class want DEN. It looks like some may get it. We haven't seen the vacancy yet, but word is they have slots in DEN allocated to new hires this round. PHL is shaking things up a bit though, so we'll see where the chips fall in a month or so.

Commuting sucks. Skywest has a domecile in TUS.

Ok I think enough people on this board have made that clear.

Shuttle does longer flights, usually around 2 hours per leg. Republic flights are typically about an hour; F9 flights may be a little longer. Its not so much aircraft specific. I'm not sure if we still do or not, but there was a 135/45 run from CVG-MCO.. that's pretty long in a WSCOD.

Ok well I'm in the Aug 27 Republic class and hoping to bid DEN. Any idea how rough it will be? I know it will be age based, so at 28 I'm probably in the high end of the seniority list for new hires. If I weren't able to bid it out of class, with current growth would you think I could bid it soon thereafter?

Rightseat Ballast 07-16-2007 08:52 AM

DEN will be growing soon... less than 1/4 of the aircraft are in DEN so far that our agreement calls for. It may take until this winter for aircraft to make it out to DEN, but significant growth is coming. So far the DEN trips look (one-leg) commutable on at least one end if not both.
