I don't think you are going to get in with less than the posted hiring minimums. There are 121 guys with the required time who are not getting the job.
MKE and ORD are the most junior bases. It seems like every new hire who goes to MKE transfers as soon as possible, so if you live in MKE that would be great for you. Good luck! In regards to the $19.25/hr, I have flown around 450 hours this year with 530 hours of pay up to our July 7th paycheck. I get my one year raise in September, but I would be on pace to make around $26k if the $19.25 were to continue throughout the year. I usually have at least one or two days on a four-day trip where we fly less than 3:45. Our minimum pay is 3:45 per day, no matter what you fly. So even though it is not very much per hour, you can live on it. Plus if you get the jet, you will be flying more and will have more options with open time at time and a half. Good luck! |
you should attend one of the career fairs that are held all over the system...that is essentially a guaranteed interview if they like you. they are hiring people with less than 1000, i know several people in that situation. you definitely have a chance!

thanks for the help guys

FAT is also junior though. |
What type of upgrade times do you guys see in the future at Skywest, with all the hiring they have done and will be doing still?

Based in FAT.
I agree with Rick, I think the upgrade will probably be around 2.5 - 3 years if we continue to lose people at 20 month. I am sure you could upgrade in less time, but you will probably be on reserve out of ORD. ORD, MKE are going so junior because like Rick said, most people are from the West and want to stay west. If you are like myself, from the midwest, being here helps with seniority. If you want to be a CA in SLC, you won't be senior senior any time soon. I don't know how senior ATL is going as far as captains. My year is September 4th and I amcurrently around 13 or 14 out of 18 in ATL. I am 50% up the list in ORD, 9/50 in MKE and 160/180 in Denver. But again, that is with a lot of growth. Unless they have something up their sleeve, things will settle down after November or December in my opinion. |

how do I get my application in when it will not even accept it because I am less than 1000 hours? Again thanks for all the replies. About Milwaukee, great city in the summer, there are festivals every weekend on the lake and the dowtown area is a lot of fun, plus you have the Brewers and Bucks in town if you are a sports fan and Chicago is only an hour south. Winters...well that is a different story, but you get used to it.
You can't. They are firm on the 1000 hours. |
