Oh and the new IBM computers... chinese... their whole computer division was bought out by a company called Lenovo... every purchase puts an American out of a job ;) I'm not talking just Chinese manufacturing... their HQ is in China and it's all Chinese based. So go support countries that are forcefully keeping their currency devalued to keep their products cheap so they can put your family on the street... after all, their military needs more ammo.

The MacBook is a very awesome system...and might be perfect if it did have Windows ;)

Better yet if it had Kubutu or Ubuntu.. ;)

Okay, now that we have the info that many are carrying their laptops on the road.... HOW are you doing that. Putting it in your flight bag... or carrying and extra ( that makes three ) bag just for your laptop?

I carry a 3rd bag for 15" MacBook Pro. Messenger type bag with shoulder strap. Its cumbersome and looks pretty busy I think. Plus it always swings infront of my waist so I'm always readjusting it to go around the terminal.

It sucks, but im too scared to put it in the hands of rampers when i comute (by putting it in my overnight bag). I've though about putting the computer inside my overnight bag, like in the center- surrounded by clothes. But going through security wouldnt be fun, so the 3rd bag works for me. Just basic black leather.

Anybody figured out a way to put it in their flight bag?

if youre daring enough to throw your laptop in anything other than a dedicated bag for it, i hope you have the accident warranty coverage for your laptop. ive broken 2 laptops so far, one time the bag fell down the stairs, and another time i dropped the laptop and the screen busted. but that HP accidental damage warranty rocks!

btw the Sony VGN ultra portable handheld computers are awesome. its taking every bit of my will power not to buy one of these. only problem is cd/dvd drive is sold separately and is an attachment. this WILL fit in your flight bag easily

Laptop & Luggage

The Purdy Neat 106NG has a dedicated pocket in the front for a laptop. Very thick padding, the zipper runs along the seam of the front pockets. Easy to get in & out @TSA line & the jetway. No need to carry a laptop bag. For macs you can get the Speck Product case as an added measure of protection. Reduces the chance of busting the screen when you drop it. I have a translucent one on my 13" Macbook. Snaps on & off in seconds.

Look at the Dell XPS M1210 its 12.1 in screen and powerful and you can customize it. I got one last month and so far its been great. Nice and small and fast for about 1000-1500$.

How large is the compartment for the laptop? I have a 17" screen and am looking for something that would accommodate it.
