Jeppesen Approach Plate Help

Got an interview coming up and trying to brush up on the jepp. plates. Anyone have a link to a website where it has the legend of all the symbols. I found it awhile ago but can't find it anymore.

Not sure about a site that just shows the legend...but you should check out the chart clinic reprints. They might help.

If you have the Jeppesen Instrument/Commercial it is an OK resource. Just try to find a couple hi and low charts, a few ils and vor dme approaches (with arc)and start finger flying them. Youll figure them out they are very very intuitive.

I think that is the first time I have ever heard someone coin the phrase "finger flying". Maybe its just the memphis heat but that is hilarious

Sheltered life. XJT makes you finger fly for the interview and most people do it when getting their IFR and CFII ratings.

When you finger fly an approach, what exactly are you doing?

Dunno. Using the A/P and FMS???

Why not use the legend at the front of the Jepp airway manual?

Place your finger on the approach plate and walk through how you would shoot the approach (how you would identify the various fixes, when you can descend and how low, how you'll identify the missed approach point, how you'll fly the missed, etc).

And like somebody else said, try to get ahold of the chart legend and a couple Jepp plates and enroute charts to review.

Don't forget the STARs, DPs and the back of the 10-9. Eagle tech interview 6 mo ago was all Jepps, and most of the Qs came from those pages.
The legend pages of the Jepp airway manual has definitions of all the symbols.

If you need a few jepp charts, go hang out at the FBO and ask the charter and corporate guys that base there if you could get their expired ones when they get a revision. Worked well for me when learning them.

I did the same thing. I learned to brief the ILS 4R in HNL way before I ever flew it for real. Did it on FS2004 and walked it right down.

Odd question, but do you airline guys shoot VNAV or GPS approaches at all?

BornToFly 07-29-2007 11:35 AM

I just need somewhere where it tells you what all the symbols mean. I know how to finger fly and approach and whatnot.

F9 doesn't have GPs approaches in our Ops specs but may due Rnav sids and stars.

Where do you fly the 47. FTCKY?
I was Former Night Stalker for the with the Chinook Battalion, I miss jumping and fast roping out of them.
