I had my interview two weeks ago and they canned me after the first day. Here is the funny part. The guy spent 15 mn with me unlike the other 3 guys before me who got 1hr+ long interviews. He had not even graded my test when I went to see him so he didn't know if I passed or not. No one even asked how I got into aviation. Even if I did bust the written, I don't think you should can people for it because it it could very easily be failable although it was not that bad. They must not need guys too bad if they are canning people when they won't even do a legit interview with them. I am not worried about it though. I will reapply in six monthes maybe or some other time. CHEERS

You dont think they should NOT hire you because you failed the written? Why does it matter how you got into aviation....???

I got the Job yesterday with ASA!!! Yea they need pilots. There is no reserve right now and they are tlaking upgrade coming down to 2 yrs maybe less. It is a LEGIT company with a ton of opportunity. They ve never furloughed and Delta needs them. They are gonna get the contract done, and pay will be better. The interview is not a cake walk, they need pilots , but they wont lower their standards. I t is 2 days, if oyu make it passed the first day, Tech and HR , yu will make it to day 2, CRJ 700 sim...what a blast....great company, good work rules, and I cant wait to start!

What I am saying is that that 30 question test was not a good judgment (IMHO) of what kind of aviation knowledge you have. And it doesn't matter how I got into aviation, the point of that comment was the guy asked me nothing at all. I don't think they should be denying people when they don't even give you a real interview.

HercDriver130 08-01-2007 01:58 PM

Well they obviously DENIED you for SOME reason.....hours.. quality of those hours.... attitude..something... i doubt they just summarily decided to deny you for NO reason whatsoever. Look at all aspects of why you didn't make it past day one...and you just might come up with the answer.

I am not argueing the fact they got me on something. What I was saying is when I got into the interview, I still had my test in my hand which means it wasn't graded yet and the guy told me that he had not even had time to look over my folder. So after this point there was nothing he could have gotten me on because he didn't know anything. So then I have no more than a 15 min interview. When they did go back and look at anything, if I did have something that was iffy then they had nothing more to go on than a few pieces of paper. All that guy talked about for those 15 minutes was how to pass the sim the next day....So who knows. And I couldn't care less because I have another interview on tuesday and if I get that job then it won't really matter.

I've heard from several people that they just bring people there to bust their balls.

Thats a boatload of BS handed to you by people who failed to pass muster. Interviewer time is precious, and these companies need to HIRE PEOPLE. Not play stupid games. The bean counters give them soooo LITTLE MONEY to pay that they are under serious pressure to hire. They do NOT have time to waste on interview failures.

flyingkangaroo 08-01-2007 07:04 PM

pilotdude, the interview is really comprehensive, if they told you to go home early it was because they didn't believe you could make it through training. They do wash people out of the interview but it isn't because they want to be dicks, if they don't think you are going to be trainable they don't want to spend money to have you fail training. Think about it this way, they don't say never come back, they say please reapply... They really want you to pass! they don't want to hurt your career either by you failing.
