Scenic
Just wondering if they have a training contract?
|
i Assume yes but I don't know for how long.
good luck! |
looking at grand canyon airlines, they don't have a traing contract,Applicants are required to be current and proficient in IFR skills and procedures.
so i would guess the same with scenic |
I don't think either do......hope not......
|
No they don't, mins are being able to live off of $13 per hour.

Unless you are from the Vegas/Boulder City area, I would recommend one of the regionals vs. running the ditch all day. Unpressurized, low and slow, bumpy hot air over mountains, and long days carrying tourists. That's a hard life that pays even worse than an RJ job. Vegas in not the cheapest city to live in, and with the all the hiring going on, if you have the time for Scenic you should be able to get hired at a few other places as well. |
Good point...it just looks like fun flying, nice break from the CFI lifestyle.
A regional would be nice, just don't want to get domiciled back east with a training contract. |
had a friend who went down to scenic after TSA gave him the axe...don't think he liked it all that much, and was much happier upon getting on w/ Xjet, and back to the flying he wanted to do. He did say it was "fun" @ first, but...he also mentioned, mergers, and job losses on the horizon.

Scenic flys the twin otters, correct?
What are their minimums for the right seat? Nevermind. I found the info. You can almost get a job at XJT with those mins. |

I doubt you can find a job at XJT with a wet commercial ticket.

I'm aware of that. XJT wants 600/100 but look at this link and you'll see where my sarcasm came into play. It doesn't mention wet commercial. That must be the unofficial mins unless I've been misinformed here. http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/sh...ghlight=scenic

that's grand canyon airlines, scenic is a different company.
Scenic = wet commercial. Grand Canyon = 700/50 Is that correct? |
not sure what scenics current minimums are...when my buddy got hired on, he had 1100/75...was hired @ trans states before he was hired @ scenic, but, TSA hadn't even dropped to wet commercial yet, and there was no-where else in the industry that had gotten that bad either.
Scenic hired him after TSA and while his hours were looking "employable" by other companys, the TSA red X was holding him back and scenic was the "best bet" for the time... |
Scenic minimums are Commercial/Multi.

I do....very much so.
Just need to bump the multi up a bit, besides I want to finish my MEI. |
I just finished class with GCA and one of the new hires only had 8 hours multi time. so just send in your resume.
|
You must be joking!
|
No joke.........
|
WOW!!!
How is the written exam part? Pretty much from the ATP written guide? |
At scenic it is just FAR 121 questions, 30 of them. GCA there was no written exam as part of the interview.

Yes.....2 day course.
I WANT the MEI, but have been too busy flying traffic watch and CFI'ing at two flight schools to take lessons! |
I have an interview with scenic on Oct 4. I was as invited with 407tt and 31multi.
Just double checking on that written. The web site states the written will be on part 91 -121 -aerodynamics -ifr- and weather. But the Invite letter says 121 regs. anybody recently interview with scenic? |
I think it is just Part 121 regs from the ATP written.
|
Its true, only 121 regs, 35 question written. Used to be you had to get an 80% or you got the boot but no longer.
|
I worked for Vision (right across the street). Got hired on with 320 hr when regional hiring was a bit more selective. You are home everynight, live in vegas! very close pilot group, but.... pay sucks, really really hot in the summer, and with a Twin Twatter you are sooo slow, and have your gear hanging down. With the hiring like it is now i would just go to a good regional, unless you like spending half your life at KGCN.
|
Thats classic!! I got to bump up the multi a bit!!! 5 hours!!! Yeah...get it to 8 hours and you are set!
