Question for all regionals awarded 900's for delta
We have heard nothing, except for some rumours about LAX and SLC. Has anyone else heard anything? I know that Comair and Mesa were awarded some, and that Skywest flies 17 or so. I would assume Comair will fly out of CVG or JFK, but has anyone heard anything and why is there so much secrecy on this?

Eventually when it is all up and running, everyone will be trained on both. That will take a while though until they can run a schedule that would have enough flights to accomodate that. None of the Delta planes will be able to touch DTW, MEM, MSP so it would have to be something like DTW-TYS TYS-SLC do some delta flying and then come back and swap at some point to get back to Detroit.
I still have this theory that this was all created because Delta and NWA are going to merge and with all the 900 and e 175 flying that is being awarded is to replace the DC 9's unfortunately |

Interesting. I wonder if they are going to start giving the differences training in the upcoming new hire classes. That's also an interesting theory you have. Only time will tell when it comes to this business.

JetJock:
There is nothing going on currently for a DAL/NWA merger. During bankruptcy it was looked at (when Delta was not in charge of Delta). But Delta is very confident in their position going forward as a stand alone carrier. Pilots speculate, but right now there are no DAL/NWA plans. |
I will not speculate on the bases... I have heard everything from an existing ATL base to the list of LAX,SLC, and MIA. My *thoughts* are that wherever the base is the company will limit it to -900 flying only with a plane lock for those who fly it. I have heard the rumor of 3 years to the PLANE not seat. There are many question marks, but if it is LAX- super junior will be the seniority over there. DL wants 5:1, we operate the NW flying at 3:1. I could see displacements for guys to fly the -900 if its LAX and attrition will sky rocket. I am senior enough to not really worry about it but if I was displaced to LAX I would probrably strongly consider leaving. I live in MEM and that is a HUGE thing for me. Plus- I don't even know how to live on FO pay in LA, and you have to be nuts to think I will commute across the country! We will see.... Now if its SLC and the pay rate is "ok" I would strongly consider moving out there because it is gorgeous out there.

Our -900s at Comair will go to CVG, with the first plane arriving next month sometime. Apparently Mesa will send theirs to JFK.

We cant have a seat lock because it is not a different type of aircraft. IF you get displaced, you simply bid out of it eventually and go back to where you were. The company does not want to displace because it costs them a ton of money. I heard this from union guy for what its worth
straight from our contract... A Pilot dispalced from his domicile will receive 45 days continuous per diem from the effective date of the displacement or his first report for duty, if the date of his first report for duty falls after the effective date of displacement. The company will provide payment to a pilot displace from his domicile, prior to the effective date of the displacement or prior to his reporting to the displaced location, which ever is earlier, in a net amount after payroll taxes equal to 45 times the current room rate, including applicable sales taxes, charged to the company by the hotel primarily utilezed for crew lodging in the domicile to which the pilot is displaced. If the company primarily utilizes uses more than one such hotel, then the amount shall be the average between the rates at each such hotel. The displaced pilot is under no obligation to use this amount for payment of overnight lodging in his domicile. sorry if there are some typos, i had to type it all out because the contract is in pdf photo copy format. any way, you can see it would get really expensive for the company to displace pilots to lax. by my math they would have to cut you a check for about 4 grand, then another 1500 for the perdiem. plus regular pay. i think this would be the last option for this company. |

It's just "Hear Say," nothing is final until their on property! After all it's one of the 4 things we as pilots do on a professional level: 1. Fly A/C 2. B1tch 3. Gossip 4. Drink |
