This misconception has caused a mass exodus of pilots from Mesa to these other carriers. What our ex-employees do not understand is that they will end out on the street in 5-years. Unfortunately we will not take them back at that time.'" Insert any number of rebuttals... or just laugh. My god what a horrible reflection of the company for the 'boss' to say something as retarded as that. What an as*hole:mad:. I am not an employee of Mesa, but just as an aviator, that really grinds mt gears:mad: |

Oh but he does. I cant find it right now but I have a news article where he talks about how we are losing pilots to other airlines due to "predatory" hiring practices like giving signing bonuses (Mesa gives 5000$ for UAL experience! Sign up now! ....isnt that predatory?) and because the Majors are hiring. Wait...then why is it 80-90 a month and 70% are FO's with a year or less?
On the bright side, our billboards are helping to bring our stock price down!!! And we all know who that hurts the most! :D |

I know im going to RAH at the end of the month and most of my friends are too. I only know a few CA that are leaving here soon. Its also funny, did you see our bid for IAD 0710? 68 FOs and 74 hard lines. Its funny, they even took me off the roster already. Wonder if ill even get an exit interview.
For sure do your ALPA exit interview. We want to know honestly why you are leaving. |

Have fun at the new airline! I am sure you will find a lot more job satisfaction over there. By the way... Mesa has been pulling pilots out of recurrent ground schools to cover open flying. A friend in CLT just called and told me this! Another friend a couple of months ago was actually pulled out of the classroom, put on a ferry flight CR900 with a bunch of other pilots, and flown to ORD on an emergency mission to cover flying. Guys, it is bad and not getting any better at Mesa. I hope we still have an airline in 6 months. I am now beginning to worry that there will be a "downgrade" due to junior attrition. The first sign will be if they cancel upgrade groundschools scheduled for Sept-Oct... Yikes! |

MAG Alpa has been using testimonials from their exit interviews to counter management claims that unsatisfied pilots leaving Mesa are "isolated incidents". I know it sounds like a pain, and that Alpa surely knows why you are leaving- but be honest and give them the whole story- this is your chance to "get it off your shoulders" and give it back to management. Make sure to finish it before your last day otherwise you will not be able to get on to the MAG Alpa website.

Airways wasnt happy, we always said we wouldnt cannibalize our Airways crews for our UAL stuff...tsk,tsk will MAG be operational in the US in a year? |
MAG is on a fast road (airway) to death. I do praise the pilots for walking/ choosing another airline. It's an easy decision for some while a difficult decision for others, those with senority.
One thing I have learned in my several careers, it's just not worth it (no matter where you stand in line - read senority #) to take abuse. Especially the kind that JO dishes out. Many of the other regionals as well as nationals and majors are welcoming MESA pilots. I have atually heard through the grapevine that MESA is calling most of the regional airlines and telling them to stop stealing (hiring) their pilots. The response: Treat your pilots better and they may not leave. If I were a MESA pilot wanting to leave to a REGIONAL, I would send my resume to SkyWest and Republic. These are the two companies that will benefit the most if MESA goes under. UAL flying will have to be covered and these two companies can find the means to do it. The other UAX carriers . . .I think would have a difficult time. |

I am truly sorry for the guys who have put in the time at MESA only to possibly lose what they have worked years to achieve. However, I can truly say that your services can and will be better compensated, and your QOL will be greatly improved with ANY kind of move. Believe me, others are ready and waiting to welcome you. It just pains me to see ORD MESA pilots sit on the tarmac for days on end, knowing they are only going to get paid for :32 for a flight from ORD to ATW though they are sitting with doors closed for hours!!! |

Folks may absolutely hate MAG management, but I doubt they'd knowingly allow pilots to miss RGS and dequal, costing them available pilots to fly the schedule. |

I can see you've never actually worked at mesa...or you wouldn't have said that. |
A buddy of mine worked there about 11 years ago. They were running short on F/O's. So everyone in his upgrade class was pinked in their oral. All on the third question. Instead of asking them to put upgrade off for a couple of months. Nice way to treat employees isnt it. Didnt hurt him though hes at American now.

I know a guy who was sent TDY on reserve to some little turboprop domicile in New England...crew tracking promptly forgot about him, but payroll did not. He collected guarantee and per diem for several months, and then realized that he wasn't going to get called, so he went home. This lasted for a year...when they finally called him, he got off the hook because he hadn't flown an airplane in 12 months so he could not accept the reserve assignment :D They had to send him back to the sim... |

Did you hear the one about the b1900 dude that did not get a paycheck? He filed a suit in local court and got the cops to put chains on the props. of the aircraft. He was pretty much overnighted his check at that point. It was in the papers. I would love to find the article. I don't know the base or even an approximate date...
There was also the chief pilot memo that demanded pilots not stand in line for food stamps in uniform. I would frame this one for the wall. |
