Oh the lies they sold! CAPT was just a really bad way to spend good money that I didn't have.

CAPT sent more than just a couple guys to my new-hire class at Trans States...

"I hear they pay fairly well (ATP)."

I think it's $12/hr if you don't reside in company housing. There are some perks if your student passes the ride the first time. The free RJ course is if you put in 200 hours as a CFI, I think. I've heard many say the RJ course is worthless.

hmmm,

Me/ Colgan / 657TT 71ME / hired within 15 months and I went to an FBO and spent $25,000 less.

The RJ course may be good for some, I just had my interview at ASA last week, there were 3 of us, 2 of us got the job, the one who didnt was the one who had taken the CRJ transition course, so in my opinion...it doesnt matter...it may give you a leg up in the sim in ground school or if you make to the sim in the interview, but the kid who didnt get to the sim at ASA w us, it didnt help him since he couldnt get through the HR and the tech portion.

this atp cool aide needs to go away.

please everyone listen

YOU DO NOT NEED TO SPEND 60+K DOLLARS TO GET YOUR RATINGS PERIOD!!!

If you have hours you will get hired period no matter what and those that say ATP pays well are crazy...i started at double what atp pays as an instructor and I still do not feel that I get paid what I am worth

"but atp is all multi time"

every fbo is hurting for instructors right now, if you pay the money to get the MEI you will fly a significant amount of multi time anywhere in the country.

people are ATP brainwashed that it is the only way...talk to desert dog about his story..it is the path I would reccomend

What's your story with FlightSafety?

usmc-sgt 08-10-2007 03:32 AM

I hear you DE it is just a losing battle..I cant count the number of pilots I have met carrying that 60 or so thousand dollar loan from atp.

I have no particular problems with the school, I think they are well run, professional and deliver what they promise but they charge an absolute premium for a product that is not superior when there are so many great schools out there throughout the country.

Do the math breakdown and look at what you are truly paying for hour there and then translate those hours to most other schools and even your average school will be 15-30k less. I have found you can even negotiate, I flew 100 or so hours in a duchess in training so I told them upfront that I would be doing that and I got a great discount on the aircraft

I had 3 interviews within 1 week of wanting a job... and a job offer within another 3 days... 550/35 and never even heard of ATP :D... well I had but it seemed like a dark gloomy money pit so I repressed the thoughts.
