Skywest QOL

How is the QOL at SKW compared to other regionals? How many days off a month is expected for a new hire on reserve? What about with holding a line?

Somebody will have a better answer than me...I haven't started IOE yet, but from what I have heard from classes ahead of me, if you get the 120, chances are you won't be on reserve at all from FAT. I should defer to somebody that's actually gone through though.

If you get ORD or MKE as a base (RJ only) you'll have a line the first month you bid for it. They are super short FO's in ORD... don't really know what is going on at the rest of the bases

correct. I'm on reserve right now in MKE (just off IOE) and will be bidding for a line next month.

I really want ORD if I get on with SKW, I was just curious how the typical weeks are on reserve, and with holding a line. What is typical? Working weekends with 4 days on, 3 days off?

Yea, I wanted ORD as well but get to commute 1800 miles to California for work on the EMB. Glad I am doing it though and love the flying out here despite have to commute. Be prepared if you don't get the CRJ and ORD if you get hired. I am out in Fresno right now and am already bidding halfway up the seniority list here for August in only two months. I bid for 4 day trips and usually have 3 days off between trips. Once a month I get a big stretch of 5 to 6 days off in a row which is nice too. Weekend trips is what I have been getting which I prefer as well because its easier to commute home during the weekdays. Good Luck!
