Mesaba

Just curious about a few things. Is it possible to get MSP right out of training? I see the pay is better then most places for first year, but how much are guys bringing home on year 2 and 3? Is it livable? How many hours a month are being flown? Just trying to see if ill be ok making a jump from another place.

Also, where can i apply? Im on airlineapps.com but the guys arent on there. Im attending a seminar on August 25th. Does Mesaba pick up many pilots from seminars? Thanks

September's bid has mostly 88hr block and between 89 to 97 hr credit with tafb ranging between 185 to 345 hr.

dont forget to subtract 5% from all the pay rates you see on airline pilot central, we wouldnt want any false advertising here would we? IMHO, those paycuts were never even close to being necessary for you guys to get those 900s

First year FO on all a/c is $22.81. This will return to $24.00 when all the aircraft are delivered.

Is there any overtime pay like high time or something? Such as if guarantee is 80 hours, if you fly 90 hours do you get time and a half for the 10 hours?
Hey Bobs, this is Q from the other site. I'm thinking of leaning towards mesaba as well, I took a tour of their facility today and it was pretty nice!

The pay cut never had anything to do with getting the 900's.

Hourly rate for overtime/overblock.

1.5 times hourly rate for open time/junior assigned trips.

Ok thanks, is there much open time these days?

IHateMgmt 08-14-2007 06:49 AM

Plenty (often too much) open time lately.

my appologies, still didnt need to happen though, at least the bright side is i am sure what is going on over there now has improved moral a lot, by the way, is anyone training on the 200 at all? No one here seems to know if we are giving them to you or not

They are starting another class, but I'm wondering the same thing.

In the "Mesaba Newhire" thread, they said the next -200 class is scheduled for 9/24. And I know the July 26 class right behind mine had a lot of -200 drivers in it. Does anyone know what the holdup is/was with the -200 program?

Bobs98tlr 08-14-2007 11:20 AM

I believe it was the flap 8* deal of some sort, others can elaborate better. Are there any "new hires" getting the -200? I would really like to get MSP out of training if thats possible? Also, ive been studying everything i can, just curious if the gouges are still current on the interviews as well? Thanks

It had to do with someone ********** up big time, with dequaled instructors. In regards to the flaps 8 deal, I believe they are getting them retrofitted, while another guy I flew with said they would just send those 200's to detroit.

Squawk_5543 08-14-2007 11:58 AM

Anyone know how they are filling the spots for equipment. Are they putting higher time new hires in the jet and lower time in the Saab? Or just pulling names out of a hat..

tsween 08-14-2007 12:03 PM

all this info is being duscussed or has been discussed in the "mesaba new hires" thread

Squawk_5543 08-14-2007 12:05 PM

I think that thread is about to max out on posts :)

LoudFastRules 08-14-2007 12:24 PM

Last I heard is that the 200s will probably all be retrofitted to flaps 8. Q: Why?, A: Standardization. It stinks to have to include exceptions in all of the documentation, and FAA papers, and training, and etc. when some airplanes have significant differences from others. Furthermore, DTW aircraft routinely come to MSP and MSP planes go to DTW. (Who knows what the heck goes on down in MEM!)

Names out of a hat. Period. Please don't be the guy who gets a complex about what equipment you're flying. If I was you, I'd hope for the Saab, but they all get you from A to B just fine.

Squawk_5543 08-15-2007 08:02 AM

Don't worry...I'm not that guy. Yeah I'm a little partial for the Saab but I'm just happy to be part of the team now, no matter what I get.

WHAT???!!!!!! The jet's easier to fly then the SAAB!! THe CRJ is way more automated then the SAAB. The weather you fly in is...well you fly in the weather! For God sakes I did an NDB approach the other day. Some airlines are putting low time guys in CRJ's why shouldn't we do the same?
