The prevailing thought seems to be if you cant initially get a job at a major it has to do with your hours and in some cases that might be true ( course we arnt talking about 400tt newhire FO regional pilots ) .... but many ( no i dont have a number ) regional pilots simply dont fit the mold that the mainline carriers are looking for. Is that a nice thing to say..nope...is it true... yep.

Yes, if you are a military pilot you have better odds of being hired by any airline, especially those at the top that are more attractive to the masses.
Does that really mean that "many" regional pilots "would never get hired at a major carrier?
Don't want to turn into another civvy vs. military thread (I'd be at SUPT right now if it wasn't for getting washed at Brooks) but YGBSM!

Dude it has nothing to do with Military vs Civilian I used that simply as an example. I will stand by my asertation that many civilian and probably more military guys than you think .. will NEVER be hired by the majors for various reasons.
Hell there are threads right now on this board that talk about the NEED if not almost requirement to KNOW someone and have a letter of recommendation to get hired at several LEGACY carriers. Is that right? dunno.. but its a NEAR requirement at several places.
Dont take my post as a Military vs Civilian training debate...that is another one all unto itself and one which you might be surprised how many people feel. ALL I simply stated was that there are guys at the regional level from ALL types of backgrounds who will never get hired by a major carrier. Is that a bad thing, not for me to judge. Its like football players....every guy who plays high school ball cant go on to college... and all those college guys... they cant all go on to the pros..... same sort of analogy.

This is all "Opinion Piece Stuff" put out by the P.R. Department at the FAA. WHY???
1) Because the FAA is short staffed, (I heard one Tower Controller say that we cannot do "Position and Hold" Clearances anymore because we don't have enough people in the tower. )
2) has pre-historic equipment,
3) has antiquated procedures,
4) Has NOT executed on ANY of their proposed ATC enhancements during the last 15 years
5) FAA needs 15,000 controllers within the next 10 years. You are all seeing what happens when you get inexperienced controllers in HEAVY TRAFFIC environments . . . Increased spacing, slower speeds, flip-floping of arrivals due to trivial weather in airport area, Repeated clearances, Offering Visual Approaches when they can, the list goes on
6) People don't believe it's just WX related delays anymore . . .
The interesting thing to note is that the # of airplanes in the sky has not quite reached Pre-SEPT 11th #'s. Yet . . . the FAA says there are too many planes in the sky . . .
