Pilots AE@LGA and ComAir@JFK - Q's.
Hi all,
I have few q's for you guys, both AE FO's based at LGA and ComAir FO's based at JFK:
- how many hours a month you fly, on reserve and as line holder? (average)
- how long is reserve at both bases now days?
- what is you pay check like a month? (average),
including everything.
Thanks.

My first month at Comair on reserve I flew maybe 40 hours, then as the time limit for my 100 hours come up I flew 6 days on, 1 off until I broke the 100 hours. After that I flew about 50 hours/month. I was only on reserve 3 months. As a lineholder I get about 75-80 hour lines. I live here in NY and enjoy my time off, so I usually drop 1 trip a month to have a long weekend. They are *usually* pretty good about dropping stuff, but lately they have been claiming "staffing" issues.

I'd say 3-4 months, perhaps longer now with the two base closures. (GSO/MCO). What scheduling does do is anything left over from line holders during our monthly schedule adjustment period, they place on reserves schedules to fill out the entire month. So it's almost like being a lineholder in the sense that you know your schedule for the month and dont have to wait for a call, except they can change it on their whim.

Well, take about 80 hours times the first year FO pay, and then add another 3-500 bucks in per diem. If you like longer trips you can take home more in per diem, but like I said I live in NY so I like the 2-3 day trips.

I believe Comair is planning on picking up hiring again this fall to the pre-summer levels, so that may reduce reserve time at JFK if you try to get in a class soon. It seems a lot of people try to bid CVG also.
