RAH upgrades possibly quicker
According to our corporate HQ, I know I know I might as well say I was told by an elf, the j4j guys should be exiting quite quickly by march. With the need for captains the worse it's ever been here and the j4j guys leaving they are expecting upgrades to drop to 1.5yrs. You'd think they'd purchase their own sims.
|
No, they seem to rather send trainies to Paris. Don't mind that myself but food might get kinda pricey...
With their sign on bonus, the only new hires seem to be lateral movers. I am not a big fan of that from my advantage point but can appreciate a company who thinks about cutting costs that way...I guess? |
No offense to you of course, Duck!
I agree with you. Maybe you could bring that up in your next company meeting? |
Lateral movers aren't saving anyone any money. They all still go through the full training. It actually was costing them more when they were handing out $2500 a pop...I don't know if that's still going on or not.
|
They still are, but the trend has been to assign ERJ guys to the CRJ or 170 and vice versa for the CRJ guys. You don't get the money unless you go into the aircraft you came from. Its just a carrot on a stick.
|
j4j?.................
|
jets for jobs, furloughed airways types who were given special status when the 170s got bought from midatlantic

you'd think they'd want guys that know the plane already to go through their respective groundschool. would mean a higher pass rate. oh well |

yup, this 145 guy got juked out of $2500 after getting sent to the 170. guy i interviewed with was sent to the 145 from the CRJ at pinnacle.

I'd have to confirm this...but a friend got hired on the 170 with previous 145 time. He was told he'd still get his $2500. Whether that happened or not...I have no idea. At the very least I'd bring up they never specified you had to actually get hired on the equipment you were familiar with...only that they'd give you the cash if you had the experience.

Good luck with actually making them if they don't want to. Says in plain black and white that you get 2.5% company matching on 401k from day one and they aren't doing it.

SWA is great...much better than I could have ever imagined. I have seen a better QOL and relationship with management than I ever did in 7 years.
Don't get me wrong though...RAH still has some good qualities...notably the pilot leadership. The company has beat down enough people that I think those that are going to be there the next few years may see some changes for the better. You know as well as anyone RAH doesn't have the best track record when following contracts or doing what they say they will. Firing outside seniority (not furloughing, firing) because they wanted to get rid of a fleet type, trying to upgrade outside senority, trying to take away vacations, being forced to sign non-disclosure agreements over grievances....the list goes on and on. Only in the past few years has the pilot leadership been able to start to take a stand against management. It is still an uphill battle, but I think it will require the pilot group as a whole to get behind the effort. As long as people keep touting "1.5 year upgrades", I don't see it happening. Ever seen Bedford's house? |

I guess while your filling out all that new hire paperwork, you could ask them how to fill out a grievance as well :D. That is pretty shady making you think you will be receiving a 2500 check and then nothing. Thats more than a months salary at first year pay.
|
Do you have to pay the 2yr training contract if you're fired? If I ever got a job offer somewhere else like NetJets or a Major I might just go around and have the most fun week I've ever had at work. Office Space!

That's what they are hosing people based on. I'm not even out of training yet and I already see how sneaky they are. |
I didn't get hosed by the bonus issue, wasn't prior ERJ or CRJ. I have witnessed multiple Mickey Mouse antics though. I hope in the next year or two the corporate infrastructure and contract can catch up to the size of the operation. If so, this won't be such a bad place to work for.
|
i was hired in march, and I still haven't seen any of that "bonus"
|
yeah, evidently even the the ones that slipped through the cracks and were assigned the AC they were qualified on aren't getting their money without a lot of teeth pulling. heck even the people that referred someone aren't getting their headhunting fee without trouble.
oh, and the bit on the company website about getting assigned to my AC to get the bonus didn't exist till 2 months ago, after in interviewed and was hired |
Yup, sneaky.
|
I don't know how I did it, but I got my signing bonus with zero effort put forth. I finished IOE, and the deposit showed up in my bank account on the next payday. Of course, it was taxed hardcore, but I still got it.
ScaryKite, have you talked to the company since I talked to you the other day? |
