Republic?

I work at Colgan Air and I have to say, I am fed up with the life, the same routes, and the busted airplanes (not to mention the old "ops check good" sign off). It is time for me to leave. Can anyone tell me about RAH, QOL, Pay, base seniority and the like. I thought about xjet, but im from the northeast and Newark is not a place I want to be based. I have a friend there at Xjet, he loves it but hates all the delays and commuting. I think i want the DCA base for RAH. Commuter clause at Republic?

It's too bad we don't already have dozens of thread about life at RAH...

LAX and ONT are the more junior at Xjet. I think you would be happier with the QOL at Xjet. JMHO...

Though, anything will seem like heaven in comparison to Colgan, lol

If you thought that, why'd you apply to RAH first? As a whole, Xjet has a better (and newer) contract...but I don't care how much money you toss my way, being forced to work on a day off is not something I look forward to. But they have a lot more "soft pay" then we do so I'm sure their W2's are higher. FWIW I came in around 30K on 1st year FO pay.

Yes we have a commuter clause...2 shots to hop on a flight then you can use it. You can do that twice every 6 months. DCA is fairly junior for FO's from what I understand. I would base your decision on what people from Xjet and RAH say about their respective companies. I'm happy here, but I know people that aren't. Likewise, a lot of people at Xjet are happy, but I know people that aren't happy there either. Any company you go to will have problems, pick the one that fits best into your lifestyle.

P.S. - Getting DCA as a base is dependent on you getting the 170 on the Republic certificate...which is kind of a crapshoot although I'm sure someone will be telling you in a future post how prior 121 makes you a better candidate for the 170.

Republic called me first is all. Chose XJet :)

Oh and the 170 is pretty gauranteed now if you get hired at RAH. Last I heard the only class available was for the 170. Hope that helps.

Sounds good to me.

The initial training is difficult enough without someone having to learn CRM and airline standards as well.

Not saying it isn't. The point I was trying to make is prior 121 is NOT an automatic slot in the 170. Also, not having 121 experience doesn't mean you won't get it either. It's all a crapshoot.

2 friends got called for a 145 class Sept 12th. it is a crap shoot when it comes to which plane/cert/base you get, i know friends that got the 170 right out of instructing and former 121 that got the 145, even after asking for 170. since we can change bases every month with no base lock, the wont tell you what base you get until the end of sims.

All I can say is go for it bro!! I used to work for Pinnacle and moved on too. That place is terrible but most don't realize because they don't have anything to compare to. Definitely check out RAH or Xjet and hopefully that sour taste in your mouth will go away. I don't believe either are ALPA either.
