Would you work here?

American Eagle is having a hard time staffing their airline. If American Eagle merged the pilot seniority list with American Airlines would you be interested in joining the team? Please let me know your thoughts.

Nope.

Not a chance, not even in a million years.

careerpilot 08-28-2007 08:01 AM

A guaranteed job with American Airlines and you have no interest?

PokerPro 08-28-2007 08:02 AM

If they did that, almost every AE pilot would be furloughed.

careerpilot 08-28-2007 08:09 AM

Not a chance. AA and AE are extremely short of pilots. American is in the process of bringing back their furloughed pilots. They would bring them back faster if they could handle the demand in the training center. Plus the merge would be negotiated between APA and ALPA and certain fences would have to be discussed.

I am interested in joining AE anyway, regardless if that particular move would be made. Only reason I am holding back my resume right now is because I can't afford the initial big jump. I am looking to apply late November, early December when I can get some financial footing. Maybe if some regionals would be willing negotiate some kind of relocation deal it would happen faster :)

By the way, careerpilot, may I ask what you base your current insight on? I have been desperately trying to do a little more research on AE, but the normal google searches are not giving me satisfactory information and this particular forum has left much to be desired.

careerpilot 08-28-2007 08:44 AM

I have no basis for my insight. Eagle desparately needs pilots and is in the process of discovering solutions to the problem. I feel by offering applicants a secure future with American Airlines will attract the numbers and the quality of applicants we are looking for.
May I ask why you have to relocate right away? You can commute for awhile. PM me if you have anymore questions.

If AE is willing to let me in with my 570TT and 62ME...I'll come aboard. But all I hear is how they won't waive the 100ME requirement, so what else am I to do except go somewhere else?

ryane946 08-28-2007 09:04 AM

Are you kidding???

Of course I and thousands of other pilots would jump on that opportunity.

But there is no way in hell that would ever happen. Why would management do something that is so beneficial to pilots???

careerpilot 08-28-2007 09:08 AM

Because desparate times call for desparate measures. If they can see the light they just might flip the switch.
