Mesa Interview, New Hire ?

Thinking about Mesa as a backup of the backup airline. (Always help to have a Plan C, right?)

Anyway, to anyone who knows....

I've heard that people are getting job offers on the spot at off-site interviews that Mesa is having all over the US.

Some people said Mesa is letting you choose the airplane.

1. Is that true?

2. How exactly does that work? Do you just pick your aircraft at Day 1 of class? Or, do you just bid for a base, and the aircraft at that base is what you get?

Basically, is it as straightforward as them asking you in class, what do you want? DH8, ERJ, or CRJ?

I'm only asking because this is the backup of my backup airlilne, and only the CRJ is based at the location I'm interested in (ORD).

Anyone know how this "pick your aircraft" deal works? Is it confirmed before class, or during class?

Thanks!

I don't think its a good place to work....from what I have been told.

Let me tell you what Mesa Management will do to you as it has done to countless FOs in the Pass you may actully get the aircraft you want initially and even train and go tru IOE but then if they need you on another airframe you WILL be retrained for that Airframe.. sorta like Mesa needs come first....Honestly IMHO, Stay Away from Mesa that just my 2pennies :)

They're pretty much only hiring for the CRJ right now. Fortunately for you, if you were to go to Mesa, ORD CRJ is one of the most Junior bases, other than IAD.

I would not recommend working for Mesa, not even using them as a back-up to your back-up. Stay away from this airline and you will thank yourself later on.

I agree...not as a plan C either. Mesa would rather be in China than the US. United hates mesa and would really like to get rid of them. Plenty of other airlines with bases in Chicago that you could work for. Don't do it.

Yes this is true. Upgrade is the shortest on the dash-8 (1-1.5 years) and the longest on the CRJ (3-3.5 years). The erj is running roughly 2.5 years right now, I think, although an erj guy would know a little better.

Here's the deal:

ERJ upgrade time is currently 2 years. JFK is going to be way junior for FOs, but way senior for CAs because the CRJs there will be all 900s. The CAs for the ERJs at JFK, that'll go junior as well.

ORD- very junior base. Statistically speaking, someone going to Mesa is most likely going to get the CRJ.
