Default SkyWest opening MCI base?

Does anyone know any good information on SkyWest opening a MCI base for the Midwest Connect operation? I am in SLC for transition training and the few people I have talked to seem to think that it is likely we will get more airplanes for Midwest. They feel that the extra Midwest aircraft will cause the company to open a MCI base. According to APC, a decision is supposed to be made in September.

It makes sense to think that because MKE is overstaffed while other bases are understaffed. We need special training for being based in MKE and the thought is that if/when MCI opens up that they will be able to transfer people right away. Anyone heard anything to this effect?

Well there is now a maintenance base there....and if history repeats itself, a pilot domicile usually follows soon thereafter.

I think the decision has already been made that SkyWest WILL be getting those 10 addt'l aircraft. I think that MKE is being slightly overstaffed maybe in preparation...

As far as MCI goes, I hope it stays a MX-base only...sure, a new base is always cool, but sometimes one larger base is better than two smaller bases (better schedules, lines, facilities, etc...)

But who knows?! Certainly not me LoL

Why does MKE require special training?

It doesn't. The company just wants you to read a little pamphlet detailing what Midwest wants in regards to customer service. (Passenger greetings, PA's, uniform appearance, etc.)

Alright boys - yes those cookies are FANTASTIC...but beware!

Last trip my F/A called up every leg asking if we wanted any cookies/milk. I said I'd take just one...she always gave me three or four. Okay...so fastforward to the ride to the hotel later that day. I was thinking out loud to myself "boy, those cookies can't be too good for you, I mean they've gotta have 5g fat and 100 calories a pop, no?" My F/A chimed in here and said "well...not really - do you really want to know?!"

She went on to recite their nutrition (or lack thereof!) facts: 11g fat and 320 calories EACH.

I was FLOORED. "And how many did I eat today?" I asked...We counted 13...Yep that's 4,000 calories and 140g fat in cookies alone. Add that to my normal eating habits and I packed away 7,000 calories and nearly 200g of fat. Enough to kill a small guy. HAHA

Well, thank god for a young, peppy, metabolism, no? Needless to say I haven't eaten a single one since LoL

That's what I thought about the whole cookie thing. 1-2 cookies per leg would add up real fast...and they come with milk, how can you say no?

Skywest at MCI has a crew lounge under gate A19, along with the maintainence.

Lot's of extra rooms for offices, etc.

It's ready to go, just needs Jerry and Chip to Ok it. I predict I'll be there as a upgrade in the next year.

PS: I ate lots of cookies in the Midwest side... just hit the gym / pool / long walk after.
