Independence Air employment records
 

Ahoy ex Independence Air pilots. I flew for many years for ACA/Independence Air. Now that they are out of business, I am wondering where to obtain pilot records/drug testing information. What do I put in a job application for phone/fax numbers, employment verification, chief pilot references, etc.?

Now that some time has passed, I don't know if there is anybody still around at IDE to fullfill any PRIA requests...

For a while, Sean Field was taking care of employee services requests and issues, but I have no idea if he is still around, now that almost two years have passed.

I would include a statement that the company is no longer in business, and attach a copy of your last W2 (as well as your first if you still have it) to show that you were employed during that period. That is usually sufficient for PRIA requests.

What Josh stated is correct regarding W-2's. They are sufficient methods of proving employment. I may be wrong, but it was told to me that air carriers are required to maintain those records for PRIA reports indefinitely - even after shutting down. As a former FLYi pilot - I can tell you that it hasn't been an issue at the two places I've worked since they ceased operation. Good luck and congrats on the new job.

Updated info... this was passed on to me via another former ACA/IDE employee. Based on this new information, a new PRIA "Custodian" has been assigned for ACA/IDE employment records. Pilots/former employees wishing to verify employment may contact:

No, I'm sorry, this is not Richard. I have also lost track of many ex Independence Air pilots but you never know who you'll run into around the overnights/airports. I would love to see a comprehensive "where are they now"

Thanks so much for this contact, which has proved to be correct. I left a phone message and received a call back from this individual and she is indeed the "custodian" for PRIA, DOT, and employment verification. This is helpful to have when filling out applications which request PRIA or DOT drug testing information so you can provide a phone and fax number to the company you apply to. I think they would want this information even if you have tax records or paycheck stubs to prove employment.

I called the line the other day. Filling out the paperwork for Avantiar. Ran into a couple ex-Indy/ACA guys a few weeks ago they were working at NetJets.
