California bases

Just wondering which regionals have california crew bases. And what the possibilities are of getting them out of training.
And for those that live out there how do you like it?

XJT - LAX and ONT. Very probable that you'll get them right off training. Good luck!

Skywest has:

Palm Springs
Santa Barbara
Sacramento
Fresno (yuck)
Los Angeles (reserve only)
San Francisco (reserve only)
San Diego
San Luis Obispo
Monterey

Freso is easy to get. Not sure about the others.

EMB FO can be pretty junior. Jet CA is extremely senior.

If anyone thinks that they can aford to live in CA on regional FO pay, they have another thing coming. The cost of living here is out of sight. Its tough to get by out here on less than 100K a year. Rent in a non-high crime are can cost 1500 to 2000 a month.

My 1bd apartment in a "medium-Crime" neighborhood is $1100. Two bed in my city runs an average of 1400-1700

PSP and FAT you should be able to get out of training on the bro. On the jet, I think FAT RJ would be a slight possibility. My buddy will be 50% up the FAT RJ list after exactly one year. Keep in mind we have hired around 500 in that year though. I would be surprised if that hiring pace continues, but what do I know? MKE and ORD are more than likely the choices you will have as a new hire.

"Medium crime" exludes MS13 gangs, no?

It is sad that the cost of living is so high in California. There are not too many places here that will not cost huge amounts of cash to live in. The ones that don't cost big money you wouldn't want to live in anyways. Starter homes advertised here are normally in the 400-500K range. That can't be too afordable on most peoples budget. Especially, a regional F/O's take home.

If you have kids then you need to be in a more expensive area so that your kids won't end up in a school that is below average for academics and full of gang members, and has a tagging team.

Also, what most of us notice that are living out here in the South end of the state is that it is starting to look more and more like it does south of the border. Lots of trash everywhere, Unless you are in the high rent district.

Also, start learning spanish. You will need it. Because, a lot of our new residents here don't speak English and don't seem to have any desire to learn it. So, if you want to make things easier on yourself, start learning it. That aspect isnt too bad once you get used to it.

There are other places in the country that have a better quality of life, lower cost of living and good weather.
