AWAC Performance
For those of you AWAC Pilots who read our latest Performance numbers....I want to say that we ********ING ROCK!!!! 99.4% Controllable completion and a 76.9% on time Departure rating. We all busted ass last month. I'm hoping all our hard work wont go un-noticed. It sure would be nice to see some more flying....i mean i know im keeping my hopes wayy up....but hey you never know right?
Great Job Guys and Gals ;) |
I find these numbers don't mean much. AWAC is a great place but I don't know anyplace that doesn't call out on time while pushing 5-10 late. It's arrivals that seem to be more honest.
No matter which way you cut it congrats on the performance!! Always nice to hear a group is working to make things better. |

AWAC's performance numbers have always been very, very high. We led the way at United Express as well.
As we found out, doing a good job means nothing if the pilots at another carrier will fly for a nickel less per hour. BTW, the other one is right. We have ACARS and do not call out our times. Haven't done that for several years. People said that when we got ACARS our performance numbers would plummet. Didn't happen. |
As Far as the Arrivals go....on 2 of my 24 hour pairings last month.....i think all but 2 or 3 legs we were early....Granted alot of the legs were over blocked....but still....
I wonder what will happen to our numbers if we end up getting the "Inevitable" LGA Base |
If we get an LGA domicile things will be very interesting. But not all bad. That said, I wouldn't hold my breath for LGA. Some people want it, others don't. But the Port Authority is giving serious consideration to banning aircraft smaller than 50 seats (or at least limiting them) and I think this is what AWAC is waiting for.
There are other factors as well. Opening a new domicile means displacements, which means big moving costs for the company. I think if we end up with a domicile in LGA it will be small and relatively junior. Oddly, the commute for many would not be bad. The main bad thing would be crashpad space. And there is no subway to LGA AFAIK. Otherwise I am sort of intrigued by LGA. Being in NYC would be sorta cool. |

When do you think a LGA base would happen?
Now that I've said that, watch it be announced next week...:p |
I commute from the Island to Philly....ISP is like 15 mins away from my house....the flights are never sold out. BUT.......i guess i could suck up the 45 min - 3 hour commute to LGA if it does happen. Living with the parents and living in base???? Now that my friends is what i like to call "Living the Dream" :p

Suck it up and save your pennies. Seriously. Sounds kinda lame to live with the folks, but financially it can make a lot of sense for a little while. |

That is good to know. Im thinking of applying at Air Wisconsin in the near future and a base at LGA would be a shorter commute.

Holy crap if my parents didn't live an hour and a half away from an airport that has a suicide commute to my base, I'd be there in a heartbeat!
Can someone give me a quick summary of Air Wisconsin. I know what they do now, but who did they fly for? Did they lose airplanes? Furlough? |

It may or may not happen; do not base your decision on us having a LGA domicile.
